Comments Thread For: Jacobs, Derevyanchenko Make Weight; Prep For 2nd IBF Weigh-In

Sergiy Derevyanchenko and Daniel Jacobs both made weight Friday for their IBF middleweight title fight. Derevyanchenko knows, too, that he won’t be alone at the IBF’s second-day weigh-in Saturday morning. Jacobs skipped the IBF’s second-day weigh-in the last time he was supposed to fight for its middleweight title, but that was a strategic decision before he challenged Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden in March 2017.

I love how Jacobs says "everyone thinks I skipped the 2nd IBF weigh on purpose for GGG.. " then proceeds to explain how he did in fact skip it on purpose lol!

Harsh.. Granted he came in north of light heavy for the GGG scrap. That was a deliberate ploy to give him a weight advantage, and probably the only chance he had of winning. I thought he gave a good account of himself in that fight, although those that insist he won it are dreaming. His only other loss was to Pirog, and there’s no disgrace in that. Pirog was top class and it was a real loss to the mw division when he had his accident. I wouldn’t put Danny as elite, or a hoffer, but no way is he a bum.

Too bad Pirog and GGG never met in the ring... would have been epic.

Speaking of the Pirog fight I would have given Jacobs a very good chance of beating him in a rematch.

They both look strong & ready to go. This is a good fight for hbo's last fight. If they come back they would have to come back strong.

BS Jacobs. You knew GGG was a natural middleweight, so by skipping the IBF weight -in, you know you were still in line for the IBO, WBC and WBA titles.

That was enough for you to stack on almost 20 pounds by the time fight night came around.

But then again it's rare to hear these guys tell the truth, even though the thickest and most uneducated of them have deep allegiances to 'God', and the 'The Lord' whom they thank afterwards. I'm gonna be sick.
