Dude was like the white Ray Robinson in the Provodnikov fight... but decided to become a brawler after Pacquiao put hands on him. Hopefully he goes back to his old style.

Joe DeGuardia fronted the money through the build-up (likely keeping Algieri paid even when the shows loss money), and if things were to ever hit they'd split the big money 50/50.

Admittedly not the best deal, but if your whole career was basically built in a 500-seat venue, with the highlight of maybe fighting on ESPN2, you roll the dice.

Looking good on ESPN2, which led to the cannon fodder offer for Provodnikov, which led to the performance of his life in victory, which then led to the seemingly $1m Pacquiao offer is a lot of things all breaking the right way.

With Algieri now established as a world-level fighter, my guess is that the deal is now more in line with what you'd expect of a fighter at that level (70/30 fighter split with the promoter).

Yes. His resume is underated. He would be undefeated if he never took the risk that he did.

Ugh, who cares. We get the two Chris's coming back. Algieri and Arreola should both stay away.

Would always injured Thurman fight this guy or is he laughably scared of him like he was with Josesito Lopez?
