Not sure why Algieri is being dogged here.

He beat a game Provodnikov and Bone. Both are solid wins.

Losing to Manny and Khan (nearly KO'd him) aren't terrible outcomes.

That was a good fight for Spence at that time (pre-champion).

Nobody cares that he is fighting again. His promoter, mom and trainer are the only people on the planet that care that Algeri is going to fight. He doesnt have any fans.

Its a better fight than Spence vs Collazo.

I respect the hell out of Algieri, he doesn't quit (unlike Collazo, Ortiz, etc.), and he'll fight to the end or with him on the mat. He also IS talented. It would have been interesting to see him matched up with Paulie.

Spence II after a long layoff? I would say hell no if he didn't have a layoff. The first fight was not competitive.

Khan II? Hell yes. Some had Algieri winning the first one.

Wtf has Chris been sitting for? I thought he had beef with Joe/Star Boxing, but Joe is promoting this fight?!?!?!? I'm confused as f#ck. I thought he was sitting out his deal with Star like Mikey did with Arum.

He signed a new (most likely re-negotiated) deal with Star Boxing. Assuming that, since the build-up money has been more than repaid by this point, the splits are far better on this deal.

Re-build in his home venue (having that 6000-8000 seat Coney island venue nearby can't hurt), and make a fresh run at 140.

Eh. Fair play I guess for him, but personally that relationship sounded effed up to me & sometimes cutting the cord is the best move. But good luck to Chris either way. Seems like a genuine dude & good guy so hope it works out for him as best as it can work.
