Casuals don't know sh^t about combat sports you are right with that.
But casuals don't know sh^t about football or basketball or w/e sh^t either. Thats what makes them casuals in the first place. If you know who Keith Thurman's trainer is or who the KC Chiefs assistant defense coach is you aren't a casual fan I'd argue.
Everyone can sense a competitive matchup in any sport. Or most people who are sports fans, without being hardcore fans, can anyway I feel like. And boxing is one of the easier sports to tell its competitive I'd argue due to the one on one nature of it.
I don't see that. Only recently with going to more closed circuit fights, which is loaded with casuals, I've seen people more excited for competitive fights then quick KO/uncompetitive fights. Sure that quick KO garners that moment of excitement, but its quickly over & the more sustained excitement is with competitive fights.

They thought manny would KO mayweather, mcgregor KO whatever his name is and such forth they don’t even know what a Competitive match up is.
They want a KO as fast as possible. That’s why the ufc became popular quick kos. The general public doesn’t want decisions they want 2nd kos. They want young Tyson. They want the MP 2009 Manny Pacquiao. Casuals want blood
