What does Floyd fighting a kickboxer have to do with Manny/Thurman?
Calling it big is fine. Saying it elevates Manny above Floyd who is one of the 15-20 greatest ever, is undefeated , and has a clear wide win over Manny is illogical.
Floyd not fighting him years ago doesn't matter. A guy doesn't get elevated just because Manny fought him and Floyd didn't.
Keep in mind Manny may not even fight Thurman next. If he does and wins it will be a great win that confirms 2 things:
Manny is an ATG fighter
Manny wasn't as shot as his fans said he was when Floyd beat him.Last edited by The Big Dunn; 01-30-2019, 11:02 AM.Comment

ummm isnt that what i've been talking about???? if manny fight and beat thurman at 40 then it will be something huge and will rank him ahead of floyd. this is why you got all mad, now you are saying what does floyd fighting japanese boy has anything to do with pac/thurman?Comment

Floyd is retired and fought an exhibition. As for ATG rankings, if you think beating Thurman elevates Manny over Floyd then that is just delusion rooted in still being upset that Floyd beat Manny.ummm isnt that what i've been talking about???? if manny fight and beat thurman at 40 then it will be something huge and will rank him ahead of floyd. this is why you got all mad, now you are saying what does floyd fighting japanese boy has anything to do with pac/thurman?
Floyd has proven he is better than Manny. He earned the ATG ranking ahead of Manny. While its cool you like Manny he can't surpass Floyd unless he beats Floyd.
You just need to accept he is and always will be 2nd best to Floyd. Shouldn't really be this much of an issue.Comment

There's nothing wrong with people believing that Pacquiao being rated higher than Floyd. I think they're neck and neck with each other, with Pac being slightly higher because of his accomplishments that hasn't been seen before. But to say that Pac will ALWAYS be second best to Floyd just because he lost to him is wishful thinking.Floyd is retired and fought an exhibition. By that logic I guess BHop will always be second best against Jermain Taylor, or Duran being second best against Leonard. It seems to me that you have a huge issue with people putting Pac on a high pedestal next to Floyd. Pac is a Top 30 ATG along with Floyd and he's earned that ranking.Last edited by Flo_Raiden; 01-30-2019, 11:28 AM.Comment

The logic doesn't apply to upsets. We don't think Spinks is better than Ali for example. Context also matters. Bhop/Taylor were close fights where many thought Bhop won. Leonard/Duran in a unique trilogy that had a huge upset and then no mas. There's nothing wrong with people believing that Pacquiao being rated higher than Floyd. Floyd/Manny was a clear wide win for Floyd. To compare it to Hopkins/Taylor or SRL/Duran is unfair .
PAC is a top 30 ATG, Floyd is atop 15 ATG. So saying they are both top 30 ATG true but it is like comparing Steve Nash to kobe as I said earlier. Both are arguably top 50 ATG but Nash is closer to 30-50 while kobe is in the top 10.
They are" neck to neck" in the same sense as Floyd and Manny are- you can create a group that both are in, but within that grouping 1 guy is way higher up on the list.Comment

You're saying this as if it's FACT that Mayweather is rated higher than Manny. The logic doesn't apply to upsets. We don't think Spinks is better than Ali for example. Context also matters. I think many would disagree with you. You can say that he's ranked higher than Manny but to say that he's on another level over him or that he's so much better is unfair. At the end of the day this is all based on preference and opinion. I honestly don't see Floyd ranked that highly, let alone that much higher than Manny. Manny's legacy will only keep getting better the longer he sticks around and continues winning. Manny is a once in a lifetime fighter who has an astonishing achievement.Last edited by Flo_Raiden; 01-30-2019, 11:54 AM.Comment

In all credible rankings of ATG's he is. The rankings have been posted on this board several times. Just recently espn did its top 25 of the last 25 years (not that espn is the most credible boxing site), floyd even finished #1 there. You're saying this as if it's FACT that Mayweather is rated higher than Manny.

How is it unfair Flo? Change it to Floyd and Robinson or Floyd and Ali. All are a top 15 ATG, Ali and SRR are top 3 ATG's. Floyd isn't on their level.
I don't think its right to rank someone inferior above someone for whatever reason. I HATE Ray Leonard more than anyone. I love Hagler and Floyd but don't have them above him just out of spite.
If you don't see Floyd ranked there then I would truly question how you rank fighters. Manny's legacy may continue to grow as he wins. That is fine. That doesn't mean he climbs past all the guys ahead of him like Floyd.Comment

I am tired of hearing about Floyd. Dude is retired and all his fights suck anyway. He sits back and pot shots all night. Makes it dull.Comment
