A million subscribers? No, but they should be getting quite a bit. ESPN+ barely eclipsed a million subscribers a month or so ago. DAZN isn't getting to that mark just with Canelo.

a million? he did about 300K buys v Smith and him and Rocky are similar in profile. I appreciate the price difference or that it's free but finding an extra 700k people interested in this fight is very wishful thinking, regardless of price. And it's not falling on a Mexican Holiday.Comment

Eddie approached Eric Gomez and GBP about coming to DAZN which you can see for yourself in the video below. He says he was at a meeting with Golden Boy and DAZN in Californa so although he has nothing to do with Canelo, he did in fact help broker the deal. Obviously he and his fighters will massively benefit from Canelo being on DAZN.
the amount he had to do with any of this is ridiculous. he has no financial involvement whatsoever aside from his copromoting the fielding fight. he insults oscar and i guarantee oscar f#cking hates they guy. they did a deal with DAzn because showtime is probably getting out of boxing.
you guys are increidbly dishonest, you eat up every word eddie says and you think this happened because of him!
this happened because HBO got out of boxing, and showtime didn't offer up enough money. hearn's involvement is marginal at best, again, the guy has ZERO financial involvement.
if you think that GBP wasn't goign to talk to DAzn when hashing out a new long term relationship with a provider you're incredibly ignorant and frankly pretty dumb. so what did eddie do again, other than jump in front of a camera and talk?Comment

that's what I was going to do if they have a fight that worthy of paying for. I'm not paying for this Fielding fight though

That guy clearly isn't from the US. Dazn has to wait several years before they get into a bidding war with the big dogs of media.
That's actually why they're signing these boxing deals, they have two goals.
1. Get some solid cash flow going to mitigate massive losses.
2. Build in a solid base audience so that the big players will take them seriously. (I think 5M subs is their target figure before TV contracts expire.).
3. Then offer north of 5B - 10B per to the big boys when the time comes.Comment

Canelo may even net more than 1 million subscribers for DAZN. Pretty much every boxing fan in the North America continent with Latino blood in their veins will watch him fight whether it's from their own home, a friends place, or at a sports bar. $9.99 per month is a lot less to pay than $85-$100 per fight if he fights a minimum of twice a year - and barring injuries etc, Canelo will always fight May and September due to the Mexican holidays.Comment
