GBP handled HBO exit better than I expected

I thought dark times were ahead for GBP after HBO announced their boxing exit.

Thought at best they would play second fiddle at ESPN or Showtime, even with Canelo.

However, they managed to make a splash and have had the boxing and sports world buzzing with all these recent moves. The massive $365 million dollar contract has transcended beyond the boxing sphere and made headlines on regular news outlets.

A new power shift has occurred. GBP + Matchroom have teamed up on a platform of the future and have already become a new subscriber to come along for the ride.

Tip my hat off to GBP execs.

People get caught up with his cornyish ways, with the fishnet jokes, but when Oscar was young he was a MEGA superstar. He was like a Cristiano Ronaldo, but for boxing lol. No joke.

Everything stopped for us when his fights were on. As a kid, we were poor growing up, so I had to scramble weeks in advance to make sure i had a place I could watch.

Ill admit he really surprised me with this DAZN move. He thought outside the box and kept an open mind about this new streaming app.

I figured he would scramble and just go back to espn or showtime. Boy was I wrong.

I was reading the detail and the deal with gbp to be clear is:

          Each year for five years:
          2x canelo fights
          10x other fights

So does that really mean they have agreed two fight nights a year with six fights and canelo headlining ? If so it wasn’t as good a I initially expected.
          So

Golden Boy was definitely on the ropes once HBO announced their exit from boxing. However, Oscar showed great resilience by not standing pat and instead used his trump card in Canelo to guarantee Golden Boy’s survival for yrs to come. Now up and comers like Vergil Ortiz, Alexis Rocha, Ryan Garcia, Hector Tenajara, Diego De La Hoya, Rashidi Ellis, Lamont Roach, Jason Quigley, Raul Curiel and all the other young prospects on GBP’s stable have a platform to show their skills and develop. Also, previous champs like Lemieux, Linares, Bandido Vargas, Sadam Ali and contenders like JoJo Diaz, Jesus Rojas, Antonio Orozco and champions like Alberto Machado, Rey Vargas have a new list in opponents in DAZN stable of fighters like Andrade, Jacobs, Jesse Vargas, Amir Khan, Scott Quigg etc.. to go up against. Oscar deserves a lot of the ***** that is said about him but in this situation he deserves respect dude came up Big for his fighters.

They've been on the ropes twice. Once when Schaefer's slimey ass dismantled GBP's stable of fighters and then HBO's boxing retirement.

Excited to see what cards they put together now that I subscribed to DAZN yesterday after the Canelo announcement.

They're back to firing on all cylinders and riding about as high as they've ever been.

Wonder how much the annual cost to subscribe will be if they sign more top tier fighters.
