Has Canelo Hurt Or Helped the US PPV Market?

Has he hurt hurt or helped the US PPV Market? On the one hand you could argue that's $140 saved if you only subscribe to DAZN for his 2 fights a year so will that money saved be spent on other PPV's? Or will people think if I can pay $10 to watch a Canelo fight why should I pay $70+ to watch a PPV?

I think streaming platforms are a natural enemy to PPV's so the best selling PPV guy in boxing going to a streaming market = lotsa casual fans not ordering a PPV for awhile. This is a potential game changer to the boxing PPV marketplace. You used to have to pay $160ish a year to watch Canelo fights & now you only gotta pay $19.98 a year. Casual boxing fans are saving $140 a year. And that might mean the casual fans start watching more Canelo fights since its so much cheaper. Be interesting to see how this shakes out doe. Lotsa sh^t up in the air still with this sh^t & there will be for a long time still cuz this streaming sh^t is still sucking on its mommies t^tties. Give it 5 or 10 years then this streaming sh^t will be a war zone & there'll be some more interesting customizing of the streaming product.

UK will still have yo pay PPV for Canelo fights.. If we get Dazn and AJ fights are on there, DAZN will be an instant hit in the UK.

I don't think Canelo moving to DAZN makes a difference to the PPV market in the US. Mayweather's retirement certainly didn't have an impact.

PPV sales will always be dependent if a fight can generate enough excitement in it's own right, independent of any other fights that may be happening that aren't PPV.

We will see in the next year or so.
Just like we will see if DAZN is a success.

We've seen big boxing move from only premium cable and PPV outlets to regular TV, cable TV and streaming along with the still premium TV and PPV model here.

Obviously it's hurting it, this is a transitional period, but once the dust settles fans will be better off and probably the fighters will be too.

I think very few fights will end up on ppv, only HUGE mega fights.

I think he has changed the US PPV market for the better. Now, only mega fights will be on PPV and they will not be as expensive as Floyd or Canelo fights.
