Shaf went down in weight last year after the Easter fight:

Russian boxer Denis Shafikov will be changing his weight division for his next ring return, with a drop down to the super featherweight limit of 130-pounds, according to the director of Ural Boxing Promotions, Alexey Vasiliev. Previously, the 32-year-old Shafikov performed in some of the toughest fights in the lightweight division, where he failed on three occasions to secure the IBF title. In the professional ring, Shafikov, who previously fought at junior welterweight, has a record of 38 wins with three losses and one draw.
Was going by Boxrec Super Featherweight Rankings...

They have Stevenson is rated #33 they have Shafikov #22 so I it would be a good Step Up with Shaf style IMO to see how young Stevenson deals with that Relentless PressureComment

oh I didn't know Shafikov was at 130 now. I assume Shakur will keep fighting featherweights because that's the weight he'll be at when he fights for a title.Shaf went down in weight last year after the Easter fight:

Shakur is still a Prospects was only his 9th Fight so why NOT a fight vs Veterans like those guys
Sosa #7 by the WBC and Shaf is #9 so for a Stevenson those are Step Ups as well. If he can go overseas and get a step up vs a quality opponent then that is great as well

That was a good fight he had this past weekend. Even though the guy hadn't fought in over 500 days he still looked impressive.Comment

Agree, though I think he may possibly even be competitive with Frampton right now too. Carl was on another level a couple years ago but something happened. He hasn't looked the same. Reflexes aren't as crisp. Timing isn't the same. A lot of people haven't noticed it yet, but I think they will next time he takes a high profile fight.Beats them all (besides Frampton) on pure TALENT alone at this point and the longer they wait to fight him and allow him to continue to improve the EASIER it will be for Stevenson when they do fight him.
I would like to see him vs Denis Shafikov or even better Jason Sosa for a very good step up test for him before going after the ChampionsComment
