the market. floyd retired and ward finally got to pay per view.

he never would have been a superstar like floyud, but if floyd wasn't around there would have been a massive market for a black, american fighter.

there's also his style, his inactivity, fued with goossen, a lot of things. but those can be worked around. floyd's fights weren't always particularly exciting. what floyd did was throw "HOLY **** DID YOU SEE THAT" type combinations and counters. ward would have needed to keep winning and he'd have stayed on ppv or at the very top of network TV.

TS is probably a noob casual to be asking this question.

Umm maybe because Ward is the most boring fighter of all time with zero personality?? The droopy eyes down syndrome look dont help either.

Why didnt andre ward become a superstar.. really? Lol

Ward has no selling point. If you were his promoter, what would be your selling point for Ward?

              Personality? Nope
              Power? Nope
              Exciting style? Definitely not

He basically just win fights - good if he still is in the amateurs. Not enough in the pros to become a star.

Look, Floyd Jr. became boring in the latter part of his career but he had a marketing ploy for his fights. Of course fighting DLH did its part.

Ward is not a getto hood rat and is viewed by black folks like an Uncle Tom or sellout by getto trash black folk.
You have to act like a mayweather to be loved by black folks and viewed as the villain to be a black super star

I don't get people that says Andre Ward doesn't have a personality, at all.
Listen to his interviews, he has loads of personality..just cause the guy isn't an Adrien Broner doesn't mean they don't have personality...

Andre Ward also definitely wasn't a boring fighter, he fought way more aggressively than Floyd ever did. Ward took a fight to a bigger man in Kovalev(whether you think he won or not) Floyd fought Manny pacquiao like he had anti matter in his hands.
