wasnt much of a power puncher. never understood why more fighters didnt just try and walk through him. when u fight a slick with no power youve got to get stuck into them. obviously its easier said then done but maidana was one of the few who started with intensity and showed no respect and he almost won despite being more limited than some of the others who werent even competitive.

This is it right here. His ability to defend the jab was one of his flaws. I can recall one of the elder Mayweathers saying “if you can’t hit Floyd with a jab you can’t hit him with nothing”

Floyd almost doubled Maidana over with a body shot as well..people think he has no power but those who faced him tell a different tale..thats why you cant just run in on him

That's a good question in the OP, because even though he did have weaker aspects of his game, he really didn't significant vulnerabilities.

I don't know if Floyd did this as well, but I think I remember Michael Jordan saying he would focus on the weaker areas of his game to not have glaring weaknesses (obviously paraphrasing I don't remember it all that well).

Yup, he definitely had enough power for people to not just walk him down and impose their style/will on him. I think Ricky Hatton was one of the few that went for it later in their fight and got knocked out.

Mayweather had a few flaws but he was able to overcome them with his skills. Other fighters had flaws and it was only a matter of time before it got exploited. Even if you figure something out about Mayweather he would adapt easily and make sure his opponent wasn't able to exploit it.

Maidana and Mosley both showed his flaw..either feint him into a right hand or keep the jab in his face and load up with the right. The brilliant thing about Floyd was the punch was there and if you landed it the once and stung him he'd take it away from you which is something many boxer cannot do. So if can't drop him with it the first time good luck getting another one in. Still think a younger Mosley would've stopped Floyd that night though.
