People act like fighters just want big fights, but it's not true. The idea is that big fights lead to big money, but if you're making big money regardless of opponent, then it doesn't matter.
He's the highest paid WW, while fighting less than spectacular opponents. Who wouldn't want that deal?
For example: Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter, two of the biggest names at WW, just fought and each only made $1M for a championship fight. Great fight, where both of them did damage to the other.
Terence Crawford fought Jeff Horn and made $3M for an easy night, more than both of them combined.
He'll likely be making the same amount against Benavidez and then again against Kavaliuskas. While prolonging his career.

All true. Crawford made the wise career decision. Arum will always over pay one or two fighters to keep himself in the game. Bradley was paid so much more than he generated it was ridiciulous. Crawford is the new Bradley. It's a great spot to be in. Cong**** to Crawford.

Crawford's filed purse was 1.75 million. Garcia's filed purse was 1.25 million. Crawford is likely making more than Garcia, but it's hard to know what the real numbers are. Crawford supposedly really makes 3 million and Haymon headliners likely make at least 2x what is filed. But your point is still a good one, even if the numbers are a little closer than what you're suggesting. If Crawford got 3 million for an easy easy night against Horn and Garcia got 2.5 million or 2.75 million for a tough tough night against Porter, Crawford's in the better position.Comment
