Comments Thread For: Hearn: Negotiated Canelo-Fielding Deal Quickly; Didn't Get Greedy

Negotiations for the Canelo Alvarez-Rocky Fielding fight didn't at all resemble the countless discussions it took to finalize a deal for the Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin rematch. Fielding obviously didn't have the leverage Golovkin owned before what was a much higher-profile fight September 15 in Las Vegas. And once that huge opportunity came of nowhere, Fielding and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, weren't about to blow it by trying to squeeze every last penny out of the deal.

Sounds to me like Eduardo rolled over in the negotiations. Obviously short options for Fielding at 168 so the Canelo fight will be more money regardless but he'll get a vicious tanking like Rees-Broner, Rose-Andrade and countless other mismatches overseen by Matchroom. Short-lived world championship reign, but then again it's not a proper world title and Fielding is no-one's idea of a proper world champion.

You know full well it’s not the same thing. How is offering someone a career high payday being greedy. They want to keep the majority of the money they are generating nothing wrong with that.

Because in this case, canelo =AJ and fielding = wilder.

So you see how easy it is to make a fight when the B side isn't wilder.

Canelo is the A side so Rocky's belt doesn't count for much. Hearn respects that realizes this is Rocky's chance to dethrone a #1 and make a name for himself. So he doesn't get greedy and makes the deal fast when he has the chance.

Rocky is in Wilders seat for this deal but doesn't get greedy and makes a simple deal fast and quick.

Why does wilder duck every opportunity to get some respect from the boxing public ?

That "situation" is called fear of losing the income from the cash cow losing.
