Well as a fan not happy for the match up, there could have been many better ones, but kinda happy for this Fielding guy though, he might get what most boxers that aren't elite or great will never get in their career; a good payday

The actual WBA champion at 168, knocked fielding out in 1 round. So scrap the so called champion status, this is a lower ranked fighter at 168 and beating him isn't really beating a credible champion.
I know that Fielding is not "the best" at 168, but I will give Canelo props if he wins, and then fights either a unification @ 168 or a unification @ 160, or if he fights Charlo! Beating a bigger man, and a champion at that, deserves a salute! We gave it to Pacquiao when he beat Margarito @ 150, we gave it to Oscar for beating Felix Sturm, so Canelo will get his, IF HE WINS THE FIGHT! GGG vs. Callum Smith in the UK! Make It Happen!

Well, you're ok with this fight because you're assuming that he may try to unify at the division or go back and take on charlo or jacobs. I'm not as optimistic as you. I think he'll beat this guy, and then take a voluntary vs lemieux and then fight an even older ggg before going forward with jacobs or charlo. And for the record, Oscar getting that title vs Sturm and Pacquiao getting that title vs Margarito were hit farces. Nobody with any credibility consider those as valid and take them for what they were. Cheap attempts to say that they were Champs in an extra division.

The hell is going on here? Canelo's too short for Super Middlweight/168, the dude's only had 2 fights at middleweight. Strange.

No, and Fielding is not an elite SMW. He was KTFO in the first round by Callum Smith.

Smart move, I knew he didn't want any part of Charlo, Andrade, Saunders, or Jacob's. Several Mexican champs at 168 that would be big paydays. I dont see him fighting Smith.

"Nobody with any credibility consider those as valid and take them for what they were." There were a lot of people in the media that made a big deal about both fights, especially Oscar beating Sturm! HBO made both victories a very big deal too!

I never said Fielding was an "elite" SMW, but he is a Champion SMW! His only loss was to Callum Smith! He's the bigger man, and Canelo is stepping up to the challenge! You may not think it's a big deal, going up 8lbs., but I do! Of course, challenging Smith, Benavidez. Ramirez, or Uzcategui, would've been better! Smith vs. GGG! Make It Happen! I don't think GGG wants that work from Charlo anyway!
