He wants to call himself a 3 weight world champion.

I think everyone was suprised Canelo would fight a fighter the caliber in Rocky Fielding whos barely even proven he’s above domestic level at this point

I get it, It’s a quick turnaround stay busy fight for a fake trinket in a current subpar division and Canelo gets to delay his WBC mando for a bit longer

But this is a sh.it fight and a total sham that Canelo will be considered a 3 division champ after this

See how easy it is when Hearn and his fighter are the B-side?
Just imagine if this is Wilder and Winkel.

and GGG should not fight Charlo, Canelo's the Champion now let him fight him. GGG should go after Saunders title who ever has it at that point, or get his IBF title back. Its a shame after all he did in the middle weights to get messed about so he should choose his own route. Saunders in the UK will be very big....

there are a few reasons this is happening. 1. Canelo fans have proven themselves to be ignorant and will support him regardless of what he does. Cherry picks and peds included. 2. Fielding is amusingly considered a WBA champion despite the fact that the WBA has another champion in that same division who actually ko'd fielding in 1 round. But despite that, the aforementioned gullible fans will celebrate what they'd consider an actual 3rd weight class title. Which is truly laughable. 3. Fielding is an easy win for canelo who more often than not, prefers to minimize risk as much as possible whether we're talking facing c level fighters (liam.smith, chavez jr, Kirkland) or fighters in their mid to late 30s {I.E.mosley, cotto and purposefully waiting out ggg) .

Yeah fighting Charlo even if he wins would be a grueling fight and take a lot out of him. Then he would have to fight Canelo in the spring at age 37 in another grueling fight. Forget it.

Sh^t Hearn & everyone else who watches boxing on a regular basis.

I thought it was some fake acct sh^t when I first saw the news. If you had made a thread about who would Canelo fight next with 10 multiple choice picks Rocky Fielding wouldn't have been one of them.

Canelo clearly has had the most sound strategy in boxing since Oscar took over his duties full time from Schaefar

Reminds me of the Amir Khan fight. A fight no-one asked for. At least Amir was a name fighter and wasn't seen as completely without a chance. Canelo is moving up because he knows people would give him a hard time fighting an inferior opponent at middleweight. Hope it backfires and Rocky delivers an upset worthy of another movie, lol.

Easy... to win another belt and add a footnote to his career that states canelo was a 3 division world champ. No different when Roy jumped up to fight Ruiz to add his legacy that he was a heavyweight world champ or sugar Ray Leonard jumping up to Donny Lalonde to add super middleweight champ to his legacy. Neither Roy or Ray had any intentions of staying at 168 or heavyweight. You can also add Manny Pacquiao grabbing a belt at 154 while he was small for 147 and held the championship at 147. Took 1 fight to win 154 belt then went right back to defending his 147 belt. Same with Roy and Ray all held belts at lower weight and after jumping up to grab the belt went back down and defended their belts. Canelo was given a voluntary and after winning this belt will go right back to 160. But history will forever mention he was 3 division champ.

It's also a sneaky phuk you to GGG who for over a decade lied to his fans saying 154 or 168 but never moved up. Canelo will do what GGG never did.
