Is Canelo vs GGG 3 being planned for Cinco de Mayo 2019?

Do you think they will have a trilogy fight next Cinco de Mayo or do you think they will go in another direction? How well do you think a third fight does financially (ppv buys/gate)???

Golovkin's not fighting again this year reportedly, and also has to fight Charlo for the mandatory slot - don't think that leaves much time for a Cinco de Mayo fight even assuming he were to beat Jermall. September '19 at the earliest I would imagine, if it happens at all.

Personally I'd rather see them both move on - it's been done twice and time ain't on Golovkin's side here... you'd have to assume Canelo will do better each time out, more importantly for me though is that we've seen it already and I don't think we're see much different in a third match-up - let's see some different match ups and new talent getting a shot.

I think it would be huge if Canelo fought the winner of Golovkin/Charlo. BUT I could also see Canelo fighting Zurdo on that day. Despite Zurdo's size, he might be the easiest foe of the 3.

It definitely makes sense $$$ wise.

it's still financially the biggest fight for both by some distance and will be for a while because there's no real big names or draws between 154-168. i think the fight should happen again, it was still very close and deserves a rematch.

That said, they're going to have to move on from each other at some point, even if they make the most money fighting each other. You can't just keep fighting each other again and again on the basis is makes the most money, but it definitely needs a trilogy right now and they can justify the payday.

i think it's more likely for september next year though, not May

            Yup, in NYC.

Canelo will build a fanbase there in December.

i think ggg fights canelo in May and doesn’t face Charlo.

WBC grants Canelo voluntary defense, that defense will be GGG in May 2019... Canelo next fight is at 168 and the WBC belt is not on the line

If Canelo wants to fight GGG again then I'm sure Mauricio will make it happen even if it means the WBC going back on their declaration of a coupla days ago, but as things stand Golovkin has been told he has to fight Jermall first, and best I can tell there hasn't even been preliminary negotiations for that fight.

they can always dump the wbc belt and fight each other too. The trilogy is worth too much money to risk a fight vs Charlo
