Like him or hate him everyone has to admit that at least Canelo has the cojones to challenge himself and fight at 168 with a worthy opponent who is 6'1" tall and will walk into the ring weighing around 180 lbs. That is not bad for a guy who is 5'8" who started his career at 147 and considered to be slow and plodding by the pundits.

I guess he is just trying to follow GGG's lead. No, wait! I forgot GGG has only fought at 160 all his pro career.

Actually Canelo started at 140 where he fought Títere vazquez twice.

Since he is fighting for WBA @ 168 (and not WBC) I'd imagine it would count as his voluntary.

If he was fighting for WBC @ 168 I think that would be an exception.

I think we'll just have to wait and see -by the letter of the WBCs statement it won't necessarily count as a voluntary, but yeah, like you say - it ain't particularly an issue in terms of Canelo's resume - one thing he can't be faulted on is the quality of opposition he's sought and I would expect that to continue. It's more wondering how it will effect the MW landscape if Canelo chooses to bounce between 160 and 168 or settles on a new Caneloweight somewhere in between.

Triple bum is just THAT! He was a paper champion, with rigged fights, no power, and no boxing skill. The reason Canelo keeps winning these hyped up fiascos, is that ggg simply cannot box. Neither fight was close. The first fight, i had Canelo winning every round. Its like watching Wile E Coyote, and the Road Runner. It gets old. Like i said before..the death of boxing is near. No talent. The only one that really had talent, that was fairly new..was Adrien Broner. Jealousy and racism put him out of boxing. I believe that in the " new" america, it is unacceptable for boxing to have a dominant black champion. The result is, bad fights. Nobody is gonna pay $60, to see 2 bums fight. Charlo is a bum. 😐

Hmm No Adrien Broner, put Adrien out of boxing spot. He sucks, he is good enough to beat journey man, but as soon as he steps up in competition he losses every time, so GTFOH with the victim hood, if you defend people that acts like jack@sses then that makes you one of them.

Damn I never thought of that. Would not like that much at all. Gave him a pass the first time around because it was literally 1 pound over JMW, but if he did something like 164...that's just causing issues tbh

Canelo didn't need to pay a step aside. He asked the sanctioning body for a volunatary defense and right after the sanctioning bodies representative finished licking Canelo's a$$hole he asked GGG to protect Canelo from Charlo.
