Does it make sense for Canelo to make a non-PPV platform deal?

I prefer him not signing with anyone, but we just saw NBC making a deal with Main Events so it could be a network outside of the main candidates. Again, GBP will be trying to make a package deal by getting dates using Canelo as leverage. The big question is if it is really true Canelo only has one fight left on his deal. What if he chooses to go independent of GBP after his contract expires?Comment

That was that time buy they had before the Arum deal and their last fight on the time buy was last night.
That time buy got some fighters some fights but nobody from that deal really upped their profile.Comment

Oscar has a deal with ESPN now. They just had a card on the other night. I don't think he has to eff with Arum at all. I don't see why they couldn't broaden their current deal or keep the current deal but add a PPV deal for Canelo & keep playing the FB streaming thing out to hopefully something bigger with the lower level guys on rise.Comment

There deal was only with ESPN2 and the deal was 2 years. It's up at the end of this year.Comment

Was that card the last one? Sh^t didn't know that.
I still don't see why they couldn't re-up + add a PPV component for Canelo fights. I gotta figure ESPN would love to have Canelo on ESPN. Why wouldn't anyone want Canelo on their platform?Comment

ESPN2 is still ESPN.
MCC is saying the deal is over as of this last show. Idk about all that. But I know ESPN is f#cking nuts & have no idea wtf they are doing in boxing if they aren't making a play at Canelo.Comment

He will go with showtime eff because he wants to continue to generate that ppv moneyThe more I've been thinking about Canelo's newly found free agency the more I think its only down to ESPN & Showtime/Fox who've stated they are willing to f#ck with PPV's moving forward.
Is there any reason that doing business with DAZN would make more sense for Canelo, that would also make sense for DAZN, or any other non-PPV entity who could make an offer to Canelo?Comment

As long as the money's right.
DAZN would probably have to pay Canelo $20M per fight for broadcasting rights. It'd be a hole in their budget, but ****, these are the moves they have to make to be established as a leader in combat sports.Comment
