I think it's safe to assume GGG vs Charlo will never happen. Golovkin will be like 37 soon, hes cashing out vs Murata in Japan then a Canelo 3rd fight and riding off into the sunset. Hes not fighting for 2 million vs Charlo when he will get 5x that for Murata and 15x that for Canelo again. These dudes will claim he is ducking and **** but put in the same situation they'd do the same thing. Then again, there are some real dummies on here, maybe they'd take 10x less money for a 5x harder fight.
Is Charlo's next fight for the vacant WBC Crown?

Lol Canelo would beat Charlo. So would GGG. So would Jacobs, So would BJS. Charlo aint ever fought a real fighter so im not sure why anyone would think he can hang.GGG vs Canelo #1 was a voluntary as far as the WBC was concerned.
GGG vs Canelo #2 was a mandatory. So, as a mandatory challenger having just won the title, Canelo has time to make his first mandatory.
They're not going to strip him unless he tries to go all of next year without fighting Charlo. As long as he fights Charlo by the end of 2019, he'll be fine. But I don't think GBP will let him anywhere near Charlo, so it seems inevitable that he'll vacate.Comment

I'd be surprised if GGG fought Charlo myself. I think that Murata fight is the fight for him if he's smart. Get a nice Japanese payday, can say he sold out to fans in another country + pickup a belt. Belts are bs, but they still are a good tool to making yourself more appealing & giving you bigger paydays so the sooner GGG gets a belt back the better for him.
Although I'm not entirely sold on Canelo wanting a third fight with GGG so that'll ultimately ride with Canelo's stance more than what GGG wants to do. I think GGG might be put into a position where he'll have to fight a Charlo or Derevyanchenko or BJS or Andrade or someone else for that better payday & probably on their turf to get max money.Comment

What happened with Stevenson is very simple. Kovalev was the mandatory. When the fight was sent to purse bid, Kovalev refused to fight Stevenson. The WBC let Stevenson continue with his reign since he'd been willing to take the fight, but Kovalev ducked.
The next mandatory was Eleider Alvarez, who shared the same promoter as Stevenson. Stevenson vs. Alvarez was a very dangerous fight for both of them, and wasn't particularly lucrative, so their promoter chose to slowly build the fight. Alvarez was given fights against Canadian legends Lucian Bute and Jean Pascal, which paid more than he would have made against Stevenson anyway.
The WBC has always been pro-step aside, so there was no reason for them to object. In the end, Alvarez ended up targeting another belt and now GYM has control of a third belt in the division.Comment

All of those fights had rematch clauses.
Charlo is mandatory. No rematch clause. Extremely risky to put Canelo in with him under that circumstance.Comment
