if lampley and merchant were racist during hbo telecasts show proof

Show me video proof since everyone of their broadcasts are well documented and many people have video editor programs to edit clips.

so show proof they were racist cause I have been seeing this years and no proof.

I don’t remember Lampley saying anything but Larry would imply certain things without really saying it.

He got banned from doing one of Oscar de la Hoya’s fights because he said something about the Mariachi band he had walk him in the ring once among other things.

I wouldn't go so far as calling him racist but Larry Merchant was definitely an ethnic and race based boxing fan. His tribalism showed. He always rooted for the white fighter no matter what and didn't care who knew it either. Like the Klitschko boys and Kelly Pavlik.

          This like a mfer.

I don't recall Larry ever saying anything outright racist or even something that could be confused as racist really, but he always seemed to find reasons to like more white fighters & find reasons to dislike more black fighters. He'd switch things up here & there by really liking a black fighter, but it was a rare occurrence as I recall it.

Mainly I just hated Merchant for trying to make some book comparison to the fight we just watched. He was always trying to show how cultured he was or trying to hard to be some 4th rate Norman Mailer.

            Did he ?
Hamed said if he'd lose, it was Allah's plan.
And Lampley just paraphrased it .
George Foreman was pi ssed off.
Then he tell Lampley you just don't like him.
Lampley said I like him just fine.

That beatdown was the best beatdown ever on HBO imo.

Btw, Larry had locker room privileges to Muhammad Ali.
I think Ali would have smelled a racist a mile away.

Larry used to rag on Oscar too. He even told Oscar he thought he lost to Quartey in the post-fight interview .

I never thought Larry was being racist there. Pretty sure he said something like “I usually enjoy mariachi music, but disagree with using it as a ring enterance” and ODLH lost his mind over it.

Merchant is a Old POS and while probably not a racist he definitely has a problem with black fighters that come across as “ urban “ . Merchant only respects in his mind the educated Negro

One Lampley comment that comes to mind is when Crawford was fighting someone Inforget who and the camera zoomed into Buds Mom and Lampley goes something to the effect “ And right there is Terrence’s Momma cheering on her son “ like WTF dude every other fighter mother on HBO is shown a bit of class , I thought that was a bit cringeworthy

I’m sure there more dog whistles that he’s done over the years

Larry is one of the greatest boxing analyst/interviewers of the modern era. He's not supposed to be a *****ing bought and paid for shill like how they're becoming today, he had his own opinions and a perspective to illustrate them appropriately. Much like Atlas. The point is, guys like Merchant and Teddy are there to act as an independent thought toward the fight. Not a buddy-buddy psuedo analyst like SAS who is always sucking off the money team
