  • Comments Thread For: Tyson Fury Admits: I Don't Like Deontay Wilder; I Love The Guy

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury finally admitted during a press conference Wednesday what was fairly obvious since they began their three-day, three-city media tour Monday in London. There isn't any genuine animosity among these huge heavyweights as they head toward their Showtime Pay-Per-View showdown December 1 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. They actually like each other, which isn't typically the tact taken when opponents promote a pay-per-view fight.

“I love the guy, but I just wanna rip them plaits out of his hair for some reason. I don’t know why, but I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of days. I just wanna grab ‘em and pull ‘em out.”

Why so y'all can have a sleep over and you can re-braid his hair again while Deontay plays Madden whilst smoking some OG kush lol haha

I don't know where fans got this idea that fighters can't be cool with each other, and still want to beat/destroy the guy in front if them. There's a long history of boxers who were friends (or who had mutual respect for each other) meeting in the ring.

Ali and Fraizer were cordial initially (although the gorilla and Tom jokes made things hostile). Spence just basically retired Peterson despite the close relationship he had with Lamont and Barry.

The presser nonsense is just part of selling a fight. All the complaining about a "fake" beef needs to stop.

Conor and Floyd were basically hugging in their buildup and gave us some of the worst commentary I've ever seen. Despite that, casuals loved it lol

I don’t dIsaGree with you but remember everyone’s reaction at how cordial wlad and aj were. A lot of posters on here were calling it boring but I’m sure they’ll all change their tune now.

The difference is these guys aren't afraid to show their true selves, they're both flawed and more relatable than the phony perfect image vlad\aj try to project, and so way more entertaining/interesting

At the end of the day boxing is a sport of entertainment trash talk and explosive punches..
I don't have a problem with them being a little friendly because I know as soon as I Bell Rings it's going to be for real.
These 2 Men are Giant versions of Mayweather and McGregor.
The only man that could talk better than McGregor is Tyson Fury.

I don't know exactly why, but this is turning out to be the fight I want to watch the most this year in spite of its bullshìt appearances and obvious clowning.

Truly hoping that Fury keeps his mind intact until fight day.

Fury is a genuinely nice guy with great boxing skills. He tends to raise his game as it gets tougher and he might shutout Wilder. Wilder might never land a single big shot and eat the jab all night while hitting the air.

I've got no problem with these 2 guys liking each other, wouldn't even give a damn if they were madly in love with each other and planned to elope at some point. As long as they each give their best effort inside the ropes that's all anyone watching can ask.
The problem is with the fake beef there's been in the press conferences, this is professional boxing not the WWE. If there's a genuine dislike then I've no problem with that being shown either, as long as it is kept professional and doesn't descend into Haye-Chisora territory. There was no love lost between Canelo and GGG in the 2nd fight, but there were no stampedes, furniture throwing or mass brawls that I saw.
At the end of the day this is a sport not a war-zone, so sportsmanship should be the rule not the exception. There's no reason why if 2 boxers actually get on that they cant; be chatty in the build-up, beat lumps out of each other in the fight, then have a laugh and joke afterwards. It happens with sparring in every training camp, so why not with the actual fight?
