Wilder is the clear #2 in the boxrec ratings, with almost twice as many points as #3.

How is that possible if he hasn't taken any risks?
Yes. He has 389 points, almost twice as many as #3 Povetkin.

And Joshua has 769, nearly twice as many as Wilder.

He used to, yes. so did George Groves and Carl Froch but they wouldn't now either.

The casuals are getting bored, the novelty is wearing off. Most of AJ's fans don't care about boxing and once the novelty wears off, the ticket sales start declining, as they have been.

His numbers are still impressive, but there's definitely a downturn in his popularity happening.

does anybody take BoxRec and their algorithm seriously?

Going by their algorithm, Jeff Horn is p4p better than Naoya Inoue and Eubank Jr is p4p better than Lara..

I'd take BoxRec top 10 p4p over BoxingScene top 10 anyday.

Look up the definition of downturn, some of the **** on this thread, honestly haha

He did 1.5 million for Klitschko, he did 800k for Takam. 1.2-1.4 million for Parker, and 1.1 million for Povetkin. That is not a downturn and a decrease in popularity.

I think those numbers a reflection of the value of the other fighter. Parker brought a belt, and it was built as a unification. Plus David Higgins and Parkers trainer did a good job promoting that fight, with a big campaign focussed on Joshua's weak chin.

In terms of the gate, there has been a steady increase in the ticket prices, and Povetkins lower profile to the casual as well as a little disappointment around Wilder probably was the reason they ONLY hit 80,000.

Overall I would say his popularity is increasing, he is bringing new fans to the sport all the time. I was in a bar in London for Povetkin and it was ram packed!! There were scenes like that all over London.

I don't know what it is about Joshua, but he brings the insecure side out of many of you. Especially Americans

Haha my feelings exactly. I'm sure the fight sells out, but it's funny reading the comments here, lots of insecurity towards Joshua's selling power. It's embarrassing.

Wilder is the "A Side" Alpha

Fury the "B Side" Big Balls

                    Joshua the "C Side" Coward
