The WBC will allow Jermell Charlo to make another voluntary defense of its 154-pound title in his next fight. At its annual convention in Kiev, Ukraine, the WBC voted Wednesday to afford Charlo the chance to make a second straight optional defense against an opponent to be determined. If Houston's Charlo wins his next fight, he will be obligated to make a mandatory defense in his following fight against the winner of an elimination match between Erislandy Lara and Julian Williams.

Yea thats what I recall hearing or something like that awhile back so I'd be surprised if that is what actually goes down.

I suspect that Charlo moves up & maybe the J Rock vs Lara winner will end up being the title holder or have to fight someone else for the title. Thats assuming this fight gets made.

This is interesting because JRock is in a final eliminator for Hurd's belt as well I believe. Wonder what direction he goes, but Breadman has made it seem like his next fight is close to being done so I doubt he fights Lara and instead will fight Takeshi Inoue.

I don't at all. 160 Charlo fought Trout to a close but obvious win, 154 Charlo absolutely washed him for the most part in like a 10-2 affair and hardly got hit. jermell is a better boxer than people give him credit for, he beats both...now a younger Lara would box his ears off.

Jermell is better than Jermall. Better skilled can do more. He has also fought better competiton. Would love to see both fight Hurd. At 160 or at 154.
