If GGG still believes that he is the number one (as he won Canelo twice in fact) in the MW division, he should take the Charlo fight.
Or Charlo could just face the champion since he is the number one challenger.

Again if Golovkin fights Charlo great. But the WBC is ridiculous. Fine give Canelo a pay day fight, no problem with that he deserved it no matter what I thought of the decision. But his mandatory should be either Golovkin (due to the controversy of the fight) or Charlo as the number one.

But regardless Canelo and Golovkin will decide what they want to do. Canelo already ditched the belt once so I doubt all of the sudden he is going to listen to them. If he wants to fight Golovkin it will happen.

Charlo is mandatory for the WBC title, and Canelo is the WBC champion now, not Golovkin .. so why the heck are the WBC saying that Charlo has to beat GGG to get a shot at Canelo?

That's very unfair to Jermall ... and very convenient for Canelo.

What they should have said is that if Canelo has a voluntary defence before his mando, it has to be against GGG, with Charlo fighting the winner.

But the WBC are corrupt, as everybody knows.
      Great !!! Bravo!

      • GGG vs Charlo should happen. We already had two fights of Canelo vs GGG. If they fight other opponents it will help hype up a third fight right now don’t think people are excited for a third fight.

        • If the fight don’t happen it will be cuz of Charlo.

But at the very least, when ggg fought lemieux, he was only 26 yrs old, had 9 wins in a row. Now, when canelo wants to fight him, lemieux will be 30 and has lost badly in 2 of his last 8 fights. 2. Yes, jacobs is the best win on GGG's resume while was cheated out of 2 deserving wins vs canelo. But, you should try and pretend that you know boxing and remember how Canelo handed over a belt instead of fighting him and the fought other guys for less money, Sergio martinez declined the chance to fight him because he wanted to make more money vs cotto, cotto declined the chance to face him and went for more money vs canelo, in addition guys like saunders and Eubank Jr also chose not to face him. Even froch retired when the fight was in the table. The only fight you can say maybe could've happened was vs ward but let's not forget that ward was wrapped up in his own promotional issues and wasn't fighting during most of that time. So it's more of a matter of fighters waiting until he hit his mid 30s to finally step up. And even then, your 28 yr old messiah still gets out worked and outlanded in 18 of the 24 rounds they fought.
I didnt bother to read all this fluff so Ill just translate it for others

            You LOVE GGG ****!

But unfortunately the WBC are biased and boxing is corrupt.

If you're the champion that means you should be ready to take on all comers, to face the top contender to your title. Charlo's earned his shot, Lemieux hasn't. Lemieux has lost every time he's stepped up in competition. He got dominated and stopped by Golovkin, and he got dominated by Saunders. He will get dominated (and probably stopped) by Canelo. It's a **** fight and is only happening because of the WBC's favouritism towards Canelo.
This thread shows you who is more interested in hating on Golovkin than asking why isn't Charlo getting the shot at Canelo without conditions.

By the way I have no problem with Canelo getting a voluntary (pay day) fight. I just find it amusing what the Mexican based WBC is trying to do to get back in Canelo's good graces. In the end I don't give a rip what the WBC does. Canelo go fight Lemieux and then after that I expect a tough opponent (Golovkin, Charlo, Jacobs/Derev winner).

So go up in weight and make 50/50 with a purse of like $2 million, or fight the bigger named fighter and make $10+ from one fight.

                Wow, such a hard decision.

Especially when he was lined up for a PPV with Lemieux and was the mandatory for Cotto/Canelo. How was he or anyone supposed to know Canelo would drop his belt and wait a while before fighting him?

"Diego Rodriguez " you just agreed with the wbc while criticizing it. You say allow Alvarez a voluntary which they did but have him fight either Golovkin or Charlo after which is what they want.

Thats my take. Charlo is good but has only been in one 12 round fight and it was close enough the decision was boo'd.

Canelo body shots will slow him down in the later rounds and Canelo knows how to pace himself for a full 12.

I am not a Charlo fan. I am not a Charlo hater. Do I think he made a mistake by not taking on more worthy competition in the last year and half yes. I said he needed to make a bigger name for himself because if there is no call from the public he will just be skipped over. Right now I think that is still likely the case.

All that said if you believe in these ****** sanctioning bodies then yes he is the number one guy and he shouldn't have to fight Golovkin to get Canelo next (or at least after Canelo's voluntary/pay day fight). Canelo should have to fight either Charlo or Golovkin (if the body felt that the fight was controversial enough to warrant a rematch - which in my opinion was pretty clear it was).

This is the WBC trying to get back in Canelo's good graces. All that said Canelo is going to do what he wants not what the WBC says (and so is Golovkin). Canelo will face Charlo if he wants to not because of the WBC. Charlo has created no buzz for himself outside of the hardest core boxing people. Even many of them will say, who the F has Charlo fought. Canelo didn't fight Golovkin when he was getting much more pressure to do so, so him just saying f the WBC will not be a big deal to him.
