    The last HBO voice I cared about was Larry Merchant's. He was great.

    It all went downhill after he left but I guess he knew it was a sinking ship.

      Thanks for the excellent article. I still believe that HBO will get back in to the boxing business in a few years. They are just waiting for the dust to clear. If you are not willing to spend the big bucks for boxing in this current climate then you have no choice but to bail. Will ESPN+ and DAZN succeed? I am a subscriber of both. So far they are streaming pretty well with not many glitches. But it's still early. I would hate to be mid fight and the connection fails. Time will tell about those services. I hope they do well but still not sure if Hearn can sign enough elite fighters for DAZN. The HBO announcers will do fine. There should be enough work, certainly for the younger guys. Lederman should have packed it in long ago anyway.

        I hope they'll have Roy Jones Jr commentating somewhere. He made HBO commentary worth leaving on.

          Buffer is with DAZN now. Kellerman already works at ESPN so I wouldn't be surprised to find him on Top Rank broadcasts in the near future. Roy won't be missed. Lampley is the one who will suffer from this IMO.

                HBO paid promoters millions for garbage cards for many years. HBO dug there own grave. Whoever was making decisions at HBO was a total **** up.

                  from my understanding it was peter nelson. bob arum called him years ago as well

                    Lamps is very smart and articulate however he has become way too biased. Max Kellerman and Roy Jones do a great job

                      I will miss HBO boxing a ****load. I grew up watching it from diapers-present. I will not miss the commentary at all though.

                      The commentary did not fit with the great production. I don't want bias morons trying to persuade my fights and how the action actually is going. I didn't want to see ****head Merchant talk **** to the networks biggest star for no reason. I don't care that Merchant prefers guys running face 1st into punches... I watch the fights for the fights and fighters, not some bias midgets commentary. Lampley was ok until the moronic cheerleading became too much. That **** **** **** made me sick. He should've been warned and then fired for cheerleading so much. Lederman's scorecards were whatever he pulled out of his ass most of the time. It's like Hellen Keller judging boxing. I didn't mind his Adam Sandler 8 Crazy nights old guy voice for some reason though lol.
