Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis Believes Alexander Povetkin Should Retire

In the opinion of former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, 39-year-old Alexander Povetkin should call it a day and retire from boxing. Last week, Povetkin was knocked out in seven rounds by the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Organization (IBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua.

Povetkin´s game plan was spot on: All Or Nothing. He was fighting for victory and championship, not survival, and went out on his shield.

Lennox knows a thing or two about being battered then retiring.

Agreed seems a bit harsh that he should draw any criticism.

He went all in for the knockout and had some great success.

Probably some around the 2nd best of any of AJ’s opponents the fact he got stopped doesn’t detract from that at all imo

Povetkin is 39 and its clear he wont beat the best of the division.

The ONLY reason to keep fighting is for money.
