    SMH.

By the way Duran’s one victory on this one person Duran list was far greater than any one single Floyd win.

He beat a prime SRL. A guy who is also among the greatest P4P fighters ever.

No. That’s the point when you fight fighters in their prime you are going to have an off night and lose. Hell you can fight great and still lose. It happened to SRL. You can make a case it happened to Floyd when he fought Castillo the first time. IMO Castillo was legit prime when Floyd fought both times. On paper you can argue Corrales was prime though I think he was better when he came out of prison. The night he fought Floyd he was messed up I think. But again that isn’t Floyd’s fault. He fought a brilliant fight and any time he would have fought Corrales I think he wins.

No I don’t believe Floyd would have been an undefeated fighter in the 80’s. That isn’t to to say he isn’t a great fighter.

I’m not sure how you call Duran mentally weak. You don’t do what he did in his career being meantally weak IMO.

There is a middle ground. Respect his career but not worship it.

He is an ATG IMO. Some seem not to believe that and others want you to believe he is TBE.

There is very little middle ground on this site.

Floyd most likely wouldn't have gone near ww in that era, which is another reason Duran should be respected...but he didn't even stop there. Saying Floyd is undefeated and Duran has losses like it proves something is ridiculous.

That doesn't mean they think Floyd isn't an all time great or isn't one of the best. They just don't put him in the same class as other fighters because his competition was much weaker.
This is well stated. That’s where I am.

I see both sides though. Some unnecessary bash him and some worship him.

Man, Duran just always had a way of sneaking in his shots all night long.

As great as Mayweather was, he can not surpass Duran. This is not some old man's views but the basics of the sport. Duran was a killer at lightweight who dominated his division for a better part of a decade. Poeple tend to forgot or are too young to understand just how difficult it was to dominate divisions back then, to do it for so long was special. He was made even more special by fighting arguably the greatest welterweight of all time and winning. Yes there was the second fight and all that controversy but he returned and won a title at light middle and middle. He went toe to toe with Hagler and had enough skill to win a few rounds. If you saw him, you would see just how special Duran was.
