The thing is with BoxRec they actually count losses in their metrics compared to the average fan who thinks losses don’t matter because of the fighters previous level of competition. You cant just excuses all his losses just because he fought tough competition like Hagler Barkley and Hearns. What would be the point of fighting and keeping fighters W-L record if you can just say “that loss doesn’t matter” everytime one of your favorite fighters lose? In reference to Duran, he had nearly 20 losses. How fair would it be to the fighters that beat him to say those losses don’t matter?Comment

I'll never understand how someone could say something so ignorant. People who know the history of the sport and understand the fighters and the era are going to be comparing eras and do their best judge accordingly. Anyone who has studied for followed that era understands that was the prime for the lower weight classes. It's pretty much unanimous. That doesn't mean they think Floyd isn't an all time great or isn't one of the best. They just don't put him in the same class as other fighters because his competition was much weaker.Comment

The simple answer is that losing a fight doesn't undo what you have previously accomplished. The fact is, Duran could of rode off into the sunset as a legend after beating SRL. Whatever happened after that doesn't change that fact. Everything he accomplished after that is just icing on the cake.Comment
