So Billy Joe Saunders just failed a drugtest under VADA, he took a substance called Oxilofrine which is on the banned substances list under the VADA protocol - but is somehow allowed under UKAD, out of competition, but here is the catch, "In competition testing" by UK Anti Doping only starts at the evening of the fight!
Saunders was only caught because the additional VADA testing was requested and paid for by team Andrade.
According to Victor Conte Oxilofrine is a very powerful PED, 10 times more potent than Clenbuterol for example.
Oxilofrine is thought to increase adrenaline production, boosting endurance, power, focus, alertness and heart rate and increasing oxygenation of the blood, its also useful to accelerate weight loss.
Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell, two of the fastest 100m sprinters ever have been banned for Oxilofrine:
UKAD (UK Anti Doping) allows these substances to be taken even during training camps, their "out of competition" banned list is extremely short.
But out of competition testing for UKAD literally means until 12 hours (yes hours, not days, or weeks) before the fight. In Competition testing only starts at actual fight night!
Very potent PEDs like Oxilofrine get only tested for on the night of the fight. During training camp up until the morning of the fight basically anything goes. Oxilofrene and other stimulating and very potent drugs are known for a very short half life of less than 24 hours so they are nearly impossible to detect by a regular blood or urine test.
I have always questioned UKAD since the Tyson Fury "incident". It was extremely shady, also did they ever catch a big time fighter?
Whats up with all the UK fighters that never do VADA testing and only get tested by UKAD? Is UKAD totally useless?

UKAD In-Competition Testing
In-Competition testing is conducted in connection with a sporting event. WADA define in-competition as “the period commencing 12 hours before competition… through to the end of such competition and the sample-collection process related to such competition”, unless stated otherwise by the rules of an IF or other relevant anti-doping organisation.
