Callum Smith is a world champion after three years of waiting. The 28-year-old super-middleweight knocked out George Groves to claim the status of the best fighter on the planet in his weight division. Smith had success in parts in the fight, as did Groves, but the third round of the fight was the start of the end for the outgoing champion.

Whether people like it or not Smith is the top dog in the division now. Don't u dare tell me bum killer zurdo is cause he beat Abraham's corpse a few years ago.

      He sure is.

Zurdo will keeping fighting cans and avoiding the other World Champions at 168.

Would love to see Smith v Benavidez at Anfield next year to unify the division.

I picked groves to win on points ...

Smith impressed big time !! With his size and power he’s gonna be hard to beat at the weight . I had groves ahead before the ko but it could have been scored either way . Close fight and class Finnish fair play

Good fight but a terrible card / broadcast ...

Now bring on Callum Johnson against The Beast From The East next weekend. Inoue is in action, too. Nice.

What a privileged BUM this Callum Smith is, got lucky vs. that Swede, then got over a substitute in the following round because Calle screwed Brahemer in the semi-finals. Winning the tournament by beating George Groves coming back from injury!

The worst part is that E.U bum jr. is going to whoop Callum and finally win a legit world-title, because thats how Brits roll.

So this is what you’re going with? I guess it’s easier than giving smith the credit he deserves. You criticised him for entering the tournament but he’s ended up with the diamond belt, wba championship and the ring belt

He deserves credit, but he has low expectations if beating Groves was a lifetime ambition and the highlight of his career.

I was very impressed with Callum Smith, and very surprised. Fair play. He now reigns as #1, same as the great Joe Calzaghe before him.
