He’s getting better. A few years ago he was unwatchable to the point that I was surprised some fighter didn’t go off on him during the post-fight interview. He used to be condescending to the point of insulting. I will admit, in the last couple of years he has toned it down for the better. Always have preferred Merchant to Grey.

"Once upon a time we were a promising kid. Then a challenger. Then a champion. A great champion. A long-time champion. And then a has-been who finally retired. So long, champ," Merchant stated.

Larry would say some dumb **** like this. I remember one time Larry was describing the heavyweight division and listed each of the fighters as a different chess piece, saying something like "Oleg Maskev is the rook, Andrew Golota is the knight, Lewis is the King" or some dumb ****. Larry what the **** are you talking about.

There were times when I was listening to a HBO broadcast that I thought, I miss Larry.

I’m sorry but this has to be challenged. Low IQ? The man has been a walking boxing encyclopedia for over a decade. He is well spoken, does solid analysis ringside and asks tough questions. He is also younger which is good to being in new fans. I know there are many that prefer Merchant. I like Merchant too butbto call Kellerman low IQ shows more of a hatred vs. a stone cold reality

                Walking boxing encyclopedia?

He would compare pretty much every fighter and every fight to Pernell Whiteaker.

You could have Butterbean vs Kimbo Slice and Max would compare them to Pernell Whiteaker. I often wondered if it was just the only name they bothered to write on his laminated cue card from the 90s.

There were other comparisons but they were all just as bad as that. I'm trying to remember who he compared Paul Williams to. It was something like 'Tommy Hearns crossed with Henry Armstrong'.

Kellerman always came across as if he watched one old boxing fight per week and then found a way to reference it to try and look knowledgeable, even though it didn't bear any similarity to the fight he was commentating on.

Bro, he is 45 has been doing boxing commentating since a teenager. 30 YEARS.

Below, he hardly sounds or seems low IQ but actually knows his ****

“Kellerman's first broadcasting experience was as a teenager on a New York City public-access television cable TV program on professional boxing called "Max on Boxing". Given the medium, the show was quite simple but nevertheless caught the attention of the boxing community, including a young Mike Tyson.

In the late 1990s after graduating from Columbia University with a degree in history, Kellerman was hired as an analyst on ESPN's boxing series Friday Night Fights where he met future radio partner Brian Kenny. In November 2002 he was given his own show and, influenced by Pardon the Interruption, became the architect and original host of ESPN's Around the Horn. ”

I will miss HBO. They had great events, great production and fantastic promos, I absolutely loved 24-7 series. Also Legendary Nights were legendary. Boxing will go on, but still, its a bummer. Big fights just felt right when on HBO. I dont dislike Showtime or the commentators there but I just dont feel like "it". But maybe it will pass
