Kind of thing that great fighters in their prime(Ones Floyd never fought) can do - but mistake lesser caliber fighters (Ones that Floyd made his career of beating) constantly fall for.
Pull counter is nice "highlight move", but he never had much power behind it and the lower the technical and ring iq of opponent, the better it works.
Good luck winning a fight against Duran or Leonard if that's you go-to move.
That makes no sense, considering that he doesnt only throw it off of jabs.

don't jab when you're out of range, and don't throw one jab. and don't do it in line with a right hand. move your head so you present a target that is not stationary, and use your feet so you aren't jabbing in a straight line.

easier said than done, floyd mayweather was one ofthe best counterpunchers ever. a ton of activity would have been enough to beat floyd, but he hit hard enough and was sharp enough that nobody kept up his typical pace. in the few case we saw people try you saw floyd tested, and you also saw opponents with good chins who could take a lot of leather on the wya in. maidana and castillo are the guys that come to mind. in both case he adjusted for the rematch.

Honestly, one of my favorite signature moves from Floyd Mayweather, consider him being a defensive technician.

I know in the Mayweather-Maidana II fight, Maidana exposed a little on how to counter it by faking a jab then overcome with an overhand right that gave Mayweather a little buckle. Though, that only worked once considering Mayweather is very versatile and a smart fighter - he won't fall for the same trick twice.

Back in his prime he did it with ease.

What other way do you think would be able to counter it?

            Baldomir also countered it.

Floyd is so smart the opponents who did counter it were only able to do it once in the fight

Floyd was so good at controlling the pace that fighters who are extremely deliberate with their punching were comfortable fighting him.

Cotto didn't throw a lot vs Floyd but did extremely well.

The real b1tch of it was Floyd had some rounds in his career where he threw 70 punches. Gas tank still good till the end of the fight

Well, there are several basic fundamentals things you could do but in the actual fight Floyd just 'knew' when a single lazy jab was coming. It's really high level stuff and a reason why so few elite pros were able to occasionally counter it. Floyd immediately adjusts at all times, it seemed like guys were fighting an A.I. boxer who would adapt to all your moves in real time.

However, the question here is almost like asking how to combat the Sicilian Defense against Magnus Carlsen.

What happens when you try to Counter it...

and JMM was a MASTERFUL Counter Puncher by the way regardless of the size disadvantage in this fight, but a great example of how Mayweather is always on Guard Defensively

You wanna talk about "Matrix", love him or hate him the man was GIFTED Reflex and Vision wise, like he see things coming before they come and is always a step ahead

It is funny to see people on a forum who never boxed before talk as if it is SO EASY to Counter it though.

Half way through your jab you slip to the left he misses and you fire a left hook . The Cus Amato Peek a boo style would be a nightmare for Mayweather. To bad no welters had that style
