Not surprised. A lot of people thought GGG beat Canelo both times. And he can draw a nice audience in more than one country it seems. Fan friendly fighting style (although not so much this last time). And he's older so if you got some quality 160lb guys that can beat GGG you can get your guy the GGG rub if he beats him. Nice pickup for whoever gets GGG's services. Will be interesting to see where he lands.

In all honesty any of the three networks would be good platforms to see Golovkin fight on. But I'd probably lean with ESPN as my first pick, Showtime as second, and DAZN as third. Although DAZN is trying to break into the US market it's still heavy on UK boxing and I love my US boxing ('Merica!). ESPN is focused more so on the sport than the entertainment aspect of the sport. Not to say it's not interested in entertainment at all but when you focus on the actual sport the entertainment will come by itself. Showtime has been a solid network for years and has been killing HBO for the past 2-3 years. We'll see but yup, for me the list would be 1. ESPN 2. SHOBOX 3. DAZN.

My guess is that he swallows his pride and brings Canelo to ESPN. Showtime would be the ideal choice for him, but I don't see him working with Haymon anytime soon, especially after those emails were released.

That's gotta be the play unless he just stages independent GBP PPVs with Canelo. It's not like you need a network to throw PPVs. UFC has never needed one. If Bob can get GBP (Canelo, Munguia) and K2 (Golovkin, Chocolatito) to follow him over to ESPN like Warren and Duva have, they'll have DAZN out of business after 2 years.

Time for ESPN to pick up some of the slack - would love to see the return of FNF's - but that's not likely to happen.
some people will always prefer to watch their boxing on T.V - just because some johnny come lately like DAZN comes along doesn't fill that void - most people are distrustful and hesitant about subscription services because really - the buggers charge you monthly whether you get content or not - it's the new robbery pay model - gamification.
At least with Traditional cable services, you knew you purchased a product (PPV) and it was a one-off payment.
It's going to take quite some time to get enough customers on board to keep services like DAZN afloat - subscription based modelling is pure over-charging, lock-in stuff that older generations of fans will want nothing to do with.
Who wants to pay $10 a month to watch 3-4 fights a year, if that? that's upwards of $120 a year, for limited content.
Boxing media needs to come up with better, cheaper modelling that inspires confidence and trust, value for money and access to exclusive content.
