I agree, considering he had the flu, etc., that was a solid performance. For AJ to acknowledge he could lose is one of the best ways not to lose because it keeps him on his best at all times. Mike Tyson always thought he was indestructible and his arrogance cost him. AJ on the other hand has a very realistic approach and a better sense of himself. I also thought AJ was being honest and forthcoming in this article and was just detailing how camp went and that it was not the perfect camp and he described it with no BS at all and that is admirable.
Mike Tyson once said that being afraid of losing was good, because he turned that fear into fire and it motivated him to train hard and destroy his opponents in the ring.
It was when he stopped feeling scared and started feeling invincible that he lost to Buster Douglas.
I think they actually thought AJ would dominate Povetkin round by round. Instead Povetkin landed well but didn't have enough to withstand the size difference (missing that meldonium). That fight gave and showed every reason why Wilder should be avoided for now.
The question isn't if...its how they are going to delay fighting Wilder.
