Why you trying to side with this guy man? 114-114 and the Golovkin/Canelo are the worst in the sport. All tied to the same guy, at those stakes. I give him credit for an official win over the true middleweight champion GGG although I thought GGG should have won. He really is the lineal middleweight champion now. I never considered Cotto a true middleweight champion. I considered him a pretend middleweight champion. Martinez was the lineal middleweight champion but he disrespected the title by refusing to fight the rightful challenger GGG and further disrespected it by starting the bad trend of defending it at a catchweight of 157 for Williams. Cotto beat Martinez at a catchweight of 159 and he also refused to fight top challenger GGG. Then Cotto fought Geale, a fighter GGG had already crushed, at a catchweight of 157 and then fought Canelo at at 155 which is almost the Jr middleweight limit. So Canelo won the so called lineal 160 pound title at a top weight of 155 beating Cotto who never fought at 160 in his life and flat refused to fight GGG as did Martinez before him.I think Canelo is a great fighter and now I recognize him as the lineal champion. Going into this fight I think GGG had won almost complete acceptance as the real middleweight champion and that's what lineal is supposed to be about. Going into both fights Canelo was considered the challenger and GGG was considered the champion.

no one entity controls the lineal title. canelo won the lineal middleweight title in 2015 and defended it in 2016, 2017 and 2018. there was no justification for stripping him and he certainly doesn't become a 2 time lineal champion when new lineage was never established.

Yes, Canelo won easily and Canelo improves a lot with each fight. He is much better now than he was when he easily beat Cotto and he is better now than he was in the 1st GGG fight. He is a very dedicated hard working boxer who is always improving and perfecting his skills.

I said many people...as in different people thinking he lost different fights. I thought he won the lara fight, but it was really a pitiful display by both guys. I thought he lost both ggg fights, with the 2nd being close. canelo is similar to ggg in how he looks like a world beater against lesser competition, but barely gets by his top opposition.

And...Well, there’s no shame in being close to GGG. I dont care what people say and if they sh it on GGG (or me for saying it) but GGG is one of the best MWs ever. Personally I had the first fight a draw and Canelo winning the rematch.

And who really looks good against rangy southpaws? Especially if one is Cuban. Trout and Lara were never going to be crowd pleasing fights nor would Canelo have looked good barring a one punch KO. They’re also very veeery good especially at the time. To the point people didnt think hed even fight them let alone get past either. Thats actually what has impressed me the most with Canelo and that’s finding a way to win against all kinds of styles.

Remember there was a time where Canelo had no head movement and we said Trout would pick him off? He comesnout and outboxes Trout.

Angulo and Kirkland too ferocious and hed not fight them? Outfights them both.

Would never fight Lara? He did.

Feet too slow and GGG’s cutoff ability best Evarrr and hes get outskilled and manned? Fought off the back foot and showed incredible boxing ability.

Rematch off peds and hed run and not stand his ground and the angry beast GGG would stop him? He becomes the hunter in the fight and wins.


I cant doubt the ginger anymore. He’s given us what we wanted and proved he could do what his detractors said he couldnt. He lost to Floyd at 21 and theres no shame to losing to a genius like that.

I must have missed when he lost the lineage the first time but still, great achievement.

He has had the rub of the green on a few close scorecards now, but he is still the one getting in the ring and fighting these guys. Hell of a record for a 28 year old

Why are people acting like Canelo has been facing monsters? The only names worth mentioning are Lara and Cotto.
He got the "W" vs Golovkin, but it wasnt much of a win, just a hell of a performance.
