Dana White: Conor McGregor is better than Muhammad Ali!

Dana White who has recently moved into boxing said Conor McGregor is better than the great Muhammad Ali in the mental warfare game, in an interview he had last night. When I first heard it obviously as a boxing fan I was RAGING, but then I spoke to a couple of boxing fans and they agreed with Dana White.

all he does is scream and rant, I don't get it. Ali had proper lines and rhymes.

Well, you've got to be able to back it up for the most part. McGregor has quit in three fights including getting smashed in his prime by Nate Diaz (before getting a lucky decision in a re-match) and then thought he'd conquer boxing by picking on a much smaller, older retired guy and I heard he looked terrible in that fight.

He's a talker but he'll be forgotten in no time just like Ronda Rousey. Ali is still huge and was light years ahead as far as trash talk went.

Says it at the 0:22 mark. But I have no problem with him saying that because he empasises that he believes no one is better than Ali but only in terms of the mental warfare game. Conor's mental antics are up there with Alis and no one comes close to Conor in our era in ANY sport. The only reason I'd say Ali is better is because of the Foreman, Liston campaigns...one outside, the other inside and the magnitude of the victories at the time.

Conor lost but he has backed up his words in terms of the sheer excitement he brings to the cage with his fighting style. Being choked and tapping out isn't really quitting in the same vain as quitting on your stool and he won comfortably in the rematch, wasn't even close. Can't compare him to Rousey who fought mostly limited competition because of the lack of great female opponents in the early days of female UFC.

Also, title of the thread is a bit misleading. Dana only said Conor is better than Ali in the mental warfare side of things and paid Ali a lot of respect in the video. Dana is a huge boxing fan.

I wish more boxers would have cm mentality! If they did boxing would be the best sport on the planet! Being undefeated in boxing is the holy grail, doesnt matter how many cans u fight as long as u still have that 0. If people werent so concerned about that. in this sport and everyone fought everyone it would be epic.. if top tier fighters and all the big names constantly sought out the biggest challamges like cm we would all be better off. Floyds 51-0 record just got beat by a guy who nobody knows lol. so what good is the 0 if u never fight anyone ever!!!!!!

Ali lost to Frazier in his prime as well and Ali had a height, reach and weight advantage. Conor had disadvantages in all those categories against Nate.

That said, Dana White is right and he was only talking about the promotion of fights and mental warfare. It had nothing to do with fighting ability or resume as you butt hurt twits want to get bent out of shape about.

And you heard he looked terrible vs. Floyd? If you haven't even seen the fight, don't even comment on it. No other MMA fighter would have gone 10 rounds with the best fighter of the last generation.
