Comments Thread For: Badou Jack: Stevenson on different level than guys Gvozdyk beat

Former two-division champion Badou Jack was hoping to get an immediate rematch of his May 19th clash against Adonis Stevenson. The fight for Stevenson's WBC light heavyweight title ended in a draw. Stevenson started fast but Jack closed the show well, stunning the 40-year-old on several occasions.

If Jack didn't fight scared early on he would have beaten Stevenson lol I'm glad he didn't. Badou Jack has grown allot as a fighter he'll be a force at '75 for a few years.

It’s IMO hard to say Jack should’ve just started earlier. Stevenson was easily winning the early rounds and I think Jack could’ve gotten KO’d quickly if he had simply “started earlier.

Stevenson wasn't easily winning those rounds. He was winning them with landing a few better shots a round as Jack was moving quite a bit. Jack had a nice gameplan but Stevenson's monster body shot in the 10th round salvaged a draw for him. But man did he take a beating late in the fight. Might not be the same again.

            Badou deserves this rematch 100%
He also should of gotten his hand raised, one of my top 3 fighters to watch is Jack.... Guaranteed entertainment every time. If he doesn't get Stevenson I'd be more then pleased to get the degale rematch too. I doubt chunky wants or needs that again though especially at LHW.

He's right. Gvozdyk had good wins and performances against Chilemba, Gonzalez but he's not been in with a fighter as dangerous as Stevenson. Stevenson really hasn't been in with good guys either apart from Jack (which he deserved to lose IMO) and the ghost of Chad Dawson.

I feel for Jack. He had a bunch of draws that he won like DeGale and Stevenson and now he has to sit back and watch. I think Gvozdyk will stop Stevenson after a lively first few rounds. Gvozdyk-Jack would be a mouth watering fight and the type of fight Jack brings out of opponents will serve Gvozdyk very well moving forward.

I think DeGale will be looking for the Smith-Groves winner. He's fighting an eight round fight on the Ortiz-Molina undercard next Sunday.

I agree on Jack. I enjoy him but he does start too slow. I do believe every draw was unjust though and he should have had his hand raised. His stature would be much higher in the sport had the DeGale and Stevenson matches been scored correctly and that's the cruelty of Boxing and official scoring.

I don't disagree. Stevenson still can KO opponents, and Jack opening up early would have been opening up to Adonis' power early on as well. Let's face it: Stevenson has aged decently, but as he has added decades he is less likely to be dangerous as the fight drags on. Jack fought smart.
