Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: I Had Golovkin Beating Canelo By Three Rounds

TWO OF THE finest middleweights in the land showed the world what boxing is all about in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning. It was a demonstration from both Saul Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin of skill, strength, stealth, brutality, durability and incredible heart, among many other attributes you might care to mention.

"The fact that over two fights only one card out of six was returned in favour of Golovkin tells its own story. How can that be?"

That's what I have been saying, not talking about robberies but GGG got short changed.

Happens too often for foreign fighters (I include Nelo as a home fighter with all the mexican crowd, indep day and GDP cooking).

    GGG vs Nelo
    Lara vs P.Will
    Lewis vs Holyfield
    Pacquiao vs Bradley
    Kov vs Ward 1
    Kahn vs Peterson
    Quintana vs P.Will 1

I'm not saying all those fights are robberies but I feel like the foreigner usually got the short end of the stick.

Its very close, I've seen it twice and I had GGG up but I'm not mad at the result. Impressed with Canelo's gameplan and performance in the fight, GGG boxed well although his mobility to me wasn't great in there.

Warren just knows his chances of getting a unification for BJS have disappeared for the foreseeable future, BJS won't fight in Vegas and Canelo won't give up his home advantage. I personally had GGG winning by a round, but 2 of the ones I gave him could have gone the other way and 1 I gave Canelo could've gone the other way. When a fight is as close as that the home fighter will win 9 times out of 10 as he will inevitably get the close rounds. The only way this stops is if fights are scored in a Compubox type way, which would make it closer to the amateur scoring of pre-WBSS days and I'm not sure that'd be a good thing.

UK cats tend to favor Golovkin so I'm not surprised when they favor him or Mexicans favor Canelo. But, Warren explained himself pretty well here. I'll give him credit for that.

didn't quintana get the decision over Paul Williams? Otherwise your point is well made and this is especially true when canelo fights. He always gets close fights or rounds scored in his favor and just because the fight was legitimately close, doesn't mean that he deserved to win. It almost seems as if Canelo gets rounds scored in his favor because of who he is and not as much for what's going on round by round.

Sorry Mr. Warren, no way GGG won 9 rounds! Must be trying to kiss up to GGG in case Saunders beats Andrade! I will admit one thing, and that is that I feel Canelo was given the benefit of the doubt because he was the aggressor! That sucks for guys who out-box him, i.e. Erislandy Lara! It also doesn't help GGG to be backing up when he's the bigger man! Bad optics!

Whats your point ? Someone could come up with a one sided list of boxers that thought golovkin won. And media, well don't go there, but i guess they obviously know jack about boxing as they disagree with your opinion (evidence of an open, enquiring mind)

It was a close competitive fight, some thought canelo won, some thought golovkin won. Is that a problem for you to understand ?
