Why is Loma fighting Tank Davis' leftovers?

    What's up with that?

Because Pedraza beat Beltran he's all of the sudden a viable option for Loma?

I give Loma tons of credit for beating Linares but this seems like quite the lateral move at best.

much more goes into setting up fights than "fighting leftovers".

Probably couldn't get anyone fan worthy to fight in the time frame that he wanted.

Because Loma is coming back from injury and he needs an easy tune up fight and the winner of Beltran/Pedrazza is as easy as it gets for someone like Loma.

Because he had shoulder surgery, and this fight is to get back in the game, and see how his shoulder holds up.

His out of shape so he not fighting anytime soon. How is he a champion by fighting a fighter coming off a loss?

Because it's a unification. Lomachenko tries to fight as many champions as possible and this is a fight that politics doesn't interfere with.

Combination of serious injury and major surgery and fighting for one of the titles in his weight class. Pedraza is Davis' halfway decent win nobody is acting like it's one of Loma's biggest fights. Davis is probably going to fight someone's "leftovers" next too and my guess is that it will be ANOTHER fighter coming off a loss and coming up in weight.
