Is Michael Buffer Eddie Hearn's best signing?

When Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin step inside the ring Saturday night for their highly-anticipated middleweight championship rematch, boxing fans watching at home might experience a bit of deja vu. From a sold-out T-Mobile Arena, to the glimmering title belts, much of what viewers see will likely be the same as it was when Alvarez and Golovkin first met in 2017.

But one thing about Saturday night’s megafight will be very different. Unlike last time, famed ring announcer Michael Buffer will not be on hand to introduce the principals.

Buffer has never been HBO’s official ring announcer, though. He worked as an independent contractor for promoters whose bouts were broadcast on the network.

And now, the legendary emcee has signed on exclusively with a broadcast platform — the newly launched streaming outlet, DAZN. That means his days on HBO are done.

Benedict Buffer is for sure Eddie's best new signing.

Definitely a smart move doe for DAZN/Hearn. Nothing says big & important fight like Buffer calling out the names. GGG vs Canelo 2 seemed a lil smaller cuz Buffer wasn't involved if you ask me. That Martinez or w/e his name was guy is like 5 levels below Buffer. At least get the dreadlocks down to his knees guy. He's only like 2 or 3 levels below Buffer.

Theyre still paying Eric Raskin and Kieran Mulvaney to do the HBO boxing podcast, amazingly. They did a podcast every day last week leading up to the fight.

I don't even listen, but I've been following their podcast to see if they quietly drop off.
