Comments Thread For: Golovkin: Canelo Didn't Do Anything Special; We Controlled Fight

LAS VEGAS Gennady Golovkin repeatedly congratulated Canelo Alvarez for his performance Saturday night. The former middleweight champion commended the Mexican superstar for fighting him more than Alvarez did during their first meeting a year ago. He still doesn't believe Alvarez, who beat him by majority decision, did enough to win their 12-round rematch at T-Mobile Arena.

Canelo didn’t do anything special. Just took your 0 and your belts.

GGG suffers from his own history! Once he stepped up competition with Jacobs, and Jacobs went the distance, people gave Jacobs a lot of props because went 12! Then fights Canelo, and Canelo got a lot of props for not getting dropped, and rocking GGG with some nice counters! Canelo got the draw, but GGG could've gotten a MD, and no one would argue! This time, GGG fought nothing like himself! Body attack missing in action! Canelo walking him down, forcing the action, firing the harder, cleaner shots, had GGG's head swollen, and had him gasping for air! Canelo won the fight MEXICAN STYLE!

IMO both Canelo and Jacobs would beat GGG in the rematch. GGG is only getting older & slower.

GGG’s biggest downfall was the image he and his team created of being this come forward KO monster. Ggg is a talented boxer but there was no way judges were going to give him the nod for boxing with Canelo. Abel did ggg a disservice by telling every and anyone that ggg would ko Canelo if Canelo decided to trade. His loss lies squarely on the image they created of being a ko monster.

If only we could put a 30 year old GGG in front of a 36 year old Canelo or Jacobs...
