Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin II: Afterthoughts

In the end, Adelaide Byrd and CJ Ross may have done more damage to middleweight king Saul Alvarez than any opponent. Saturday night was a razor thin fight with swing rounds in healthy supply. Alvarez bit down from the start, taking the fight to a Golovkin who spent large chunk of the fight working off the jab and backing up for room to counter. Then they shifted, Gennady Golovkin coming on late with the sort of attacking style that made him a fan favorite over the years.

Good article that paid respect to both parties.

Interesting thought about Canelo-Floyd rematch in 2019.

If Floyd beats Manny again and calls out Canelo for MW title. Its record breaking for both...Floyd goes for MW throne and Canelo revenge. Would be very fun, but I think Canelo wins easy at this point.

Like it or not McGregor was 3-3 after 6 rounds with Floyd. Let that sink in

I don't see a point in a Mayweather-Canelo rematch. Canelo got schooled. That's it. Are we gonna wait till Mayweather is 60 so Canelo can beat the crap out of him?

It's over. It wasn't even that great of a saga anyways. MW destroyed him. The end. I don't think it's fair to put a (semi) retired MW against Canelo who's obviously in his prime.

If Floyd was going to fight Canelo, he would do it in May 2019! I don't see it happening, but I would definitely pay to see that one! I would NOT pay to see Floyd vs. Pac 2!

I thought GGG once again got reminded that he was built up to lose to Canelo. This was always going to be how it played out.

I think Floyd/Canelo makes sense. Canelo needs to erase that dreadful performance in the minds of fans for him to become the true face of the sport.

I always figured Canelo would be the one to beat Floyd. They fought earlier than I thought they would. Floyd was just still too good then. Now at 41 I think he is vulnerable and ready to be beat by a younger fighter.

Welcome to a new era in the Middleweight division.
Charlo will rule with a iron fist.
Nelo will run like he did at 154!

Not this nonsense sht again??? He was BOO'd against 31 year old Trout in that decision because many ppl felt Trout won.

Canelo was the 1st to beat a PRIME Trout coming off his BEST win and he was at an all time high....Canelo aint no damn GIMP who lasted 4 rounds on one leg against Charlo. Thats fkn PATHETIC!

People need to be careful here.

If Floyd came back and beat this kid (which seems plausible considering how easy it was last time), he'd make another $300 million and more importantly, we'd never hear the end of his TBE claim.

In fact, his case would have been made substantially more credible. We'd never hear the end of the Mayweather die hards.

I'm not sure if the internet is ready for that lol

Regardless of how you feel, Charlo would be very dangerous for Canelo.

Btw, that Trout fight was at worst 7-5 for Charlo. That fight wasn't close at all. Fans just don't like the Charlos lol

I think you follow the money. While I hope Floyd/Manny rematch doesn't happen, if it does, then assuming Floyd wins, the only logical fight next is a Canelo rematch because that is the only fight that sells more than the Manny rematch.

If Floyd makes another $300-400 million off both fights, it aint the Floyd diehards you gotta worry about, it's the Floyd haters.
