After rewatching the Golovkin vs Canelo 2 rematch

I believe that the judges got it right this time. Don't get me wrong. At least from my observation, this was a close fight which could have gone either way but GGG is obviously slowing down with age. He abandoned the body completely and was exclusively head hunting while throwing just single punches at a time; Mostly jabs.

While on the other hand, Canelo was throwing combination punches in bunches and landed the cleaner, flashier and harder power punches while forcing Golovkin to fight off the back foot in the process.

While I still thought GGG had done enough to win; Yet he was still getting hit with too many clean flush power punches to the head. Therefore, I can see how two of the three judges scored it for Canelo. He was the one coming forward, throwing combination punches and being the aggressor for most of the night.

Lastly, had Golovkin gone more to the body, I believe he would have stopped Canelo by scoring the knock out victory. With the proper adjustments, I believe GGG could win a rubber match convincingly.

To be fair, Canelo did the same thing in the first fight. Just off the back foot instead. But this time he brought the.big drama show to his front porch. Just like the G Stan's wanted. They got their wish. Made their Daddy fight going backwards for an entire fight for the first time in his entire career.

Yeah exactly, he needed to double Canelo over with body shots a few times in order come over the top with the heavier artillery to the head. For the most part, Alvarez saw the head shots coming and simply rolled with them. That's why he was able to survive the full twelve rounds.

Golovkin took a beating last night. At his age, I don’t think he’ll be the same.

No, I have to respectfully disagree. In addition, to forcing Golovkin to fight off the back foot, Canelo made several minor adjustments in this fight, with his punch selection. He was more active and busier this time. In addition, he landed more combination punches in this fight as opposed to the first fight, which I believed was a major factor in his victory last night.

Canelo landed more power punches then GGG in 9 of 12 rounds. That’s why he won.
