I forgot Mayweather lol Chavez fought valiantly in his mid 30's. Evander holyfield, vladimir. Klitcho, Roberto Duran, sugar Ray Robinson, Larry Holmes, I'm sure there is way more. They all fought in the elite level some even past their 40s. It's not the age, it's how you get there.

Dude...Mayweather and it ends there. The rest were pretty much shells of who they once were just like this guy and just about everyone else over 35. You cannot get hit to the face for 20 to 25 years and be the same. The brain doesn't heal like that.

Helluva fight. Impressed by both men, thier chins and skills. I stopped scoring it about Midway through but my gut told me Canelo edged it although a draw or a narrow GGG win wouldnt have got an argument from me (for what it's worth I felt GGG won a very close fight the first time around). While he didn't seem to have the initial daze of the big lights like the first fight I thought GGG looked old, his foot movement was a little awkward and he seemed more winded. He did land some hellacious shots tho (as did Canelo). His chin, will and power kept him in it.

This fight seemed more savage and violent than alot of the fights I've seen over the past few years; it's just they were doing it at an exceptionally high skill level and both had world class whiskers on them.

I think if there is a 3rd fight, Canelo will win it more convincingly. Father Time is not on the side of Golovkin.

Lastly, GGG threw 8 body shots in the 1st fight. He threw 6 in the rematch. Canelo threw 46 body shots in the rematch. Someone needs to explain that. ALL of US said GGG needed to throw more body shots. I didn’t pick him to win but I wanted him to win. WTF happened to the body shots???

I think GGG showed that there’s more to him than simply being a come forward puncher. But ironically, I think that cost him the decision tonight. It’s actually comparable to what happened to Manny against Floyd. Manny actually outboxed Floyd at times. But the fight basically looked like a Floyd fight. So it gave the impression that he was getting more done than he was at times. So Floyd was given the close rounds based on the fact that he was getting done what he wanted to get done. Manny isn’t supposed to box. GGG isn’t supposed to box. So when GGG goes backwards, it gives the impression that he’s losing, even when he’s not.

Golovkin has to hang them up, his chin is still world class but father time loses to nobody more so football players and boxers. Golovkin was looking for that bomb to put the lights out, he did exceptionally well on the backfoot and the reset and even showed lateral movement in getting away from wide uppercuts but it's just not there anymore. Starting a new regiment isn't really going to help him at this point. Third fight? Maybe, if and only if he comes to walk through Canelo if that's not the plan just go enjoy life. Canelo ain't fighting until may especially after that big gash on his eye..that's too far off for Golovkin at this point, he's only going to get slower.

I also have to add that I think it's laughable that fans of either GGG or Canelo would still be calling the other fighter by derogatory names at this point. I think what those two displayed in this fight would merit some degree of respect from the followers of the other side. If your boy was willing to take 12 rounds of beating like he did and hug his opponent after the final bell sounded then I think the least you can do is show some respect yourself.

Good choice of names now give us 20 fighters over 35 who were still considered prime or elite..With several thousand fighters over 100 years licensed to fight that should be easy..no? Heck make it five more...instead of 20.

I'm just pretty much disgusted that a PED cheat who just got caught this year get handed an unified/lineal title he should have clearly lost like that.

It hurts the sport.

Canelo knows he lost, remember his shy jump to the ropes, he didn't even dare to have his hands up.

Whatever type of meat Canelo took last fight I didn’t see any advantageous benefits. He gassed as early as the 4 round and was backing up staying out of harms way. This Canelo was a beast and took GGG most lethal shots and came fighting back. Today he showed he has an iron chin.

You better believe me when I tell you any lacklustre performance and I would have doubted his whole career as would so many others. He fought his heart out and was victorious.

GGG can still fight Spike O’Sullivan. There is a route back for him to the top
