How come no one talks about hopkins ducking roy?

So many roy haters say he ducked hopkins. Well why?

Hopkins stayed at middleweight for what? to win 20 consec titles? does anyone belive that? he faced chumps and had the oppertunity with a big pay day vs roy jones but decline because he wouldn't accept 60/40. but instead, he chose to starve himself and stay at middleweight.

Roy jones gave him the offer for 60/40. Hopkins didn't want to accept. So how was roy ducking him?

I honestly think Hopkins felt due to his status as a middleweight he felt he deserved more. Judging how Hopkins is as a person and his background..i dont think he was ducking anything or anyone..someone who has been stabbed/in the penn like that isnt going to be phased or scared of someone like roy jones.

Hopkins ducked Calzaghe, too. In 2002. He pulled out, then priced himself out. Everybody was pissed because it was just about to go to press release.

Again..i dont think hes "ducking" these people as much as he often times thinks his value is more than it really is. Hopkins "ducked" JC as much as JC is "ducking" Glen Johnson, its just a matter of circumstance.

Maybe because Calzaghe was leagues better than anybody Hopkins was facing

Echols gave Hopkins his toughest fight, Brewer anihilated Echols (got robbed), Calzaghe dominated Brewer.

Hopkins took the easy way out a few times. It's the way of modern fighters, oh well. Yeah, Roy was MORE than fair to Hopkins, who had a boring style, little name recognition, one notable win over Tito, and who Roy had already defeated and was allowing a chance for Hopkins' redemption.

Roy was P4P #1, and twice the draw of Hopkins. And considering Roy didn't need a Hopkins fight in any way shape or form since he'd already beat him, that was a great offer. Hopkins didn't like his chances, so he ducked out. It's that simple.

I think Hopkins was interested in fighting Calzaghe and then did a little research, watched some fights, and that's why he decided to back out. A guy every bit as strong as him, with handspeed and a power punch output that would make Hopkins' head spin. It was a smart backout, too. I think Hopkins would have lost a tough fight.

Hopkins made the right move in those dodges, because I think he would have lost them both. And Hopkins obviously had his doubts as well, or else he would have stepped up. Hopkins has always been smart in picking his fights and avoiding tougher ones, while still getting respect from the press and boxing writers. It took him awhile, but he figured out how to work the boxing system, you have to give that to him.

RJJ was far away the most popular of the two fighters at that time. RJJ also had a larger fan base and drew in a lot of viewers. For Hopkins at the time to ask for equal or more money...was asking for too much.

Hopkins demanding parity with Jones at that time would be like him trying to do the same with DLH & you know that wasn't happening: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDKAH...nard%20hopkins

LOL Great vid, I remember this. Hopkins is so silly. He thought a win over Trinidad meant he demands more money than Roy Jones!!?! A silly, silly stance.

Jones laid it out for him, "60/40, I kick yo ass." Hopkins backed down. Probably the biggest hit to his legacy that he will never be able to overcome. Hopkins didn't want that fight and didn't like his chances. Given a chance to redeem a loss to a P4P #1 fighter for a very fair split... that doesn't happen very often.
