its a unification fight so the mandatories can wait. hes basically blaming haymon and saying he wont pay them enough. its just easier to fight bums for a lot. this is what happens when you overpay which is what haymon had to do in order to secure all these fighters but now he cant make any fights because of that same dynamic

For some strange reason, what the porters said in this article does not sound genuine to me. Unifications always trump mandatories, so there should be absolutely no reason that this fight doesnt happen.. AL just inked a new deal with both fox and showtime so the money is there. If porter does not fight spence in 2019, it will be porter ducking spence AGAIN!

Besides, the wbc is known to bend and twist and even outright ignore rules for the sake of the fight that the fans want.

When Mayweather rematched Maidana, they made it that Mayweather could defend his 154 belt as well as the 147 belt even though the fight was at 147 and Charlo was Floyd's mandatory at 154 and the mandatory was due.

They did this because if he had to fight Charlo after the Maidana fight then the Pac fight (the fight of the decade) would have had to be posponed and be at risk of not happening at all.

They also bent their rules and ordered a Canelo/Golovkin rematch even though Jermall Charlo was due as the mandatory to GGG. They did this because Canelo - GGG is the bigger fight and the fight that the fans allegedly want.

They've done it many other times too, they did it for Stevenson when they suspended all his mandatories until further notice so that the Stevenson vs Kovalev fight can be made.

So there is ABSOLUTELY no way Porter can claim the wbc wants him to fight Ugas instead of Spence. I ABSOLUTELY gaurantee that's a lie.

The wbc will bend over backwards to make that fight.

If it doesn't happen its because of Porter.

I can see maybe Showtime favoring the Spence - Garcia fight, so maybe Showtime could be the cause of the fight not happening.

But if Porter claims it was the wbc, know without a shadow of doubt that he is lying.

I honestly believe this about a lot of fights. Guys are happy to fight it's just everyone whispering in their ears about the financial part and trying to make money themselves off the fighters.

Feel sorry for Ugas, who's been on a couple of eliminations with no chance at a belt yet, but I rather see Porter is Spence than any of them against Ugas. And I think, if this fight happens, even as Ugas is the no. 1 challenger to both Porter and Spence, the winner of them still will find a way not to fight Ugas.

As long as he is #1 at some point Ugas will get his shot.
..and if he meets Spence he gets the same treatment Felix Diaz got against TC.

Ugas is nothing special.

Heck I would love to see him against Felix Diaz to get a good read on him
