Some people complain about everything so its no surprise & its no surprise fighters don't concern themselves with every person's take on what they do. Can't please everyone.

And Mikey's won titles at 126, 130, 135 & 140 & is a top P4P discussed guy. If he wants to try to win a belt in a 5th division fair play to him he deserves it. And for Spence beating a 4 weight division titleholder who's still undefeated & a P4P discussed guy IS beefing up his resume.

They ALL took chances.
Exactly. People forget Duran jumped from 135 to 147 to fight Sugar Ray Leonard. Is the weight jump talked about now? Or Mosley, who skipped 140 to take on DLH. Fighters like Mikey daring to be great is what boxing needs. 2 of his last 3 fights have been at 140, so essentially he is only going up one weight. HE is calling Spence out, not the other way around. To the guys critical of Spence for taking the fight? FO and whine about something else. Spence would have fought Thurman, Porter, and Garcia by now if they were willing, but they were not.

Great post and completely agree with it. If a smaller fighter dares to be great then why not!? We as fans will never get what we want all the time but I think this will be a better fight than most would expect it would be. I do think Spence will win but it take him some time to break Mikey down because he ain't no slouch. I'm thinking TKO 9 or 10 Spence. Again OP, good post.

He will man. Still young, still fresh, and hasn't been in any wars. Spence has a lot of miles left on the clock. He should be fighting at least 3 times a year but when no one wants to sign on the dotted line it's kind of hard to make fights.

If Spence doesn't show him he doesn't belong in the welterweight division then somebody else will. Porter is also 5'6 but he has a football style wide shoulder body. Is very strong. Garcia does not and is not

Canelo is the one who reached out to Khan and he was ducking a GGG fight at the time. He asked the wbc for a tune up even though prior to fighting Cotto he lied to them and said he would fight GGG immediately after Cotto.

                His actions warrented criticism.

GGG was criticised because of his hypocrisy.

He heavily criticised Canelo for fighting a welterweight and then turned around and fought a welterweight himself. He criticised others for being businessmen and turned into businessman himself.

                Spence's situation is uniquely different.

Unlike Canelo, he didn't reach out to the guy in a lower weight class, the guy in the lower weight class is the one that has been name dropping him all this time and then recently has directly called him out. Unlike GGG he isn't being a hypocrite and he hasn't tried to fool the fans into thinking this will be a fair match-up.

He is calling it a mismatch himself and being honest about it. However he clearly prefers Porter because he said that that is the fight he wants next, but is keeping his options open because unlike Porter Garcia is dead set on fighting him whereas Porter sounds like he will be looking for a way out already making excuses in the post match press conference.

It is absolutely possible for Spence to face Porter this year (mid November to mid December) and still face Garcia early in 2019, perhaps February. Of course this is only if all parties cooperate.
