Is Tevin THAT popular doe. I feel like he's just a hardcore fan thing & the hardcores are in it already anyway if its Tevin or whoever so its not really moving the needle. The unifying thing I can understand & that has value I do agree with you there. And that's Floyd should've signed him and matched him right to build the Davis fight. These two dudes have hate for each other and that talking back and forth has built interest for the fight. And it's a unification. Floyd & PBC have nothing for Davis & they're pulling Mares up coming off a loss.
These dudes learned nothing from Top Rank.
I think Floyd should've signed Ohara Davies too. He's another fighter that sells himself
Idk about the Ohara thing & I'm a Ohara fan. A US promoter signing a UK fighter to promote in the US seems like a big uphill battle for a promoter. Specifically for a smaller promoter like Floyd thats not putting on as many shows as Oscar or Bob or Hearn.Comment

No he's not THAT popular but the fight is already buzzing amongst hardcore fans so it already has a head start. It's up to Floyd Mayweather Promotions to take it from there beyond the hardcore fans to the casuals. Is Tevin THAT popular doe. With Ohara you just gotta get him known to US boxing fans. He can do the rest. That's the fight you build up for Broner at 140/144.Comment

Oh yea and I meant to ask you what do you think about Hearn's new strategy. Looks like he's trying to sign potential PBC B-sides then using them to call out PBC fighters. Is Tevin THAT popular doe. Eh. I mean he gots to do what he gots to do. Its kinda bad timing for Hearn that Haymon was talking a deal with Fox when Hearn was talking a deal with DAZN & those deals came together around the same time.
So Hearn gots his work cut out for him with getting attention in the US market with known players in the game &/or with a less expensive product (HBO, Showtime, ESPN/ESPN+) & now with freeeeeeeeee (*Steve Kim voice*) boxing on Fox with that best roster in the game PBC team its like Hearn has a uphill battle at gaining market share for DAZN in the boxing space.
Hearn is gonna try to crack the nut of the US market cuz thats the kinda cat he is, but idk how he does it just cuz he gots B sides of PBC opponents. Like I said I think that UK guy is gonna beat Tevin so Tevin is bout to be the C side by next month so what good does that do for Hearn to sign a US guy who gets beat by a UK guy who's not gonna enhance his US product?
Hearn needs A sides & he's not gonna get a A side PBC guy now for sure with this Fox deal. And Bob ain't gonna let him snipe any of his guys for damn sure. I suppose if HBO keeps slipping or closes down he could make moves on Canelo, GGG, Munguia & the Superflys & anyone else linked up with HBO these days so that might be his best bet with the openings he has currently.Comment

I don't even think Floyd is that into throwing money into this Tank project with the toxicity between them right now to sign a guy for purposes of Tank's trajectory.
And I think Mares is a better move to try to grab some casuals for the Tank train vs signing Farmer to get the already onboard hardcores to double down or w/e lol.
If he was still undefeated maybe, but after that L idk if the juice is worth the squeeze with him in the US. He's a solid UK guy to have on the roster for his Broner-bility in pissing people off, but idek if that would necessarily translate to the US market or if Ohara even knows the sh^t to diss about America to get max haters hating him to build up his bad guy persona. With Ohara you just gotta get him known to US boxing fans. He can do the rest. That's the fight you build up for Broner at 140/144.Comment

A promoter handles the nuts and bolts of staging the fight; locking in the date with the commission, negotiating with the venue, figuring out the TV situations, working the sponsors, marketing the event etc.
Leonard Ellerbe handles the day-to-day operations of everything, but Mayweather Promotions does run it's own shows with it's own fighters without Haymon; they've got a show with Sam's Town in a couple weeks (don't know for sure, but it feels like it might be similar to Lou DiBella's Broadway Boxing series).
Al Haymon is a manager; if Floyd wants to utilize a Haymon fighter for one of his shows, as weird as it seems, Floyd/Leonard are going to have to call Haymon and negotiate a deal.Comment
