You're in a much more vulnerable position to getting countered when going to the body because you leave your whole face open and drop your hands.

I'm aware of that as well as RJJ certainly was. the point is that he was already getting countered hard while headhunting, his hands being up didnt always help. so he shoulda just attacked the body and ate those same counters. which is what i suspect he'll do this time around.

Yeah you're open to getting countered while attacking the body, but if GGG lands good body shots like he used to do, Canelo will hesitate. Golovkins body shots are no joke.

When you throw shots to the body you are not necessarily being vulnerable at all. You should have you chin tucked under your shoulder and the other side behind the opposite hand. Elbow would be in for protection of retaliating body shots.

Whether he's throwing to the head or to the body GGG is always "vulnerable" because he's there to be hit, always has been. He doesnt have that in and out style and he's too slow defensively to move his head or move out the way. I dont buy that crap about being "scared" to attack the body out of fear of being countered because hes gonna get countered regardless. I think he's fallen in love with his power and has gone to headhunting happy and Abel has failed to correct it since up until recently its been working. GGG hasnt dished out a sustained body attack since the Murray fight in 2015.

This is a set up for Canelo. Put the word out that GGG will go to the body in hopes that Canelo will work on protecting his mid section more in training but then come fight night GGG goes head hunting instead to trick and surprise Canelo.
