And after 93 years it repeated itself with Nietes vs Palicte and Ancajas vs Sultan.

I respect Nietes and Ancajas. They're technical and good. But against Filipinos they underperform.

Nah i think the mexican fans in the place are either bias to their fellow mexicans or really just love brawls or both. Nietes vs reveco was also booed despite being full of action and skill.

I for one like to see more filipino vs filipino fights cause i really hate that misguided sense of nationalism that prevented filipinos from fighting each other. This is just the third filipino vs filipino world title fight give it time.

As for the fight itself nietes had trouble dealing with palicte's height and reach as palicte kept firing 1-2s. I'd say win or lose(in this case a draw) palicte made a good account of himself and i always considered him to be one of the philippines better prospects.

I thought the crowd was fine... impatient at times...but they were respectful... the most knowledgeable would understand how difficult is to fight a much bigger, longer, younger guy who put up a good showing.

Well if there were actually many footage of domestic filipinos fighting each other to begin with but the few i saw were fairly entertaining.

Believe it or not despite the Philippines producing many world champs filipinos in majority pale in comparison to the japanese when it comes to boxing knowledge.

That is so wrong. Pacquiao got famous in the Philippines because he's a brawler and toe to toe fighter and former KO artist. He was already famous when he appeared in a couple of fights in "Blow by Blow" boxing series because he's a head on fighter and always go for the kill and he wasnt even famous outside of the country then.

Nietes is 36yrs old and only popular in his province and to boxing experts and/or boxing fanatics.

Ancajas meanwhile only started getting popular because of his KO streak which ended with Sultan.

Name one Filipino vs Filipino fight that was exciting to watch aside from the Filipinos Pacquiao faced. Name at least one.

Love this fighter, but no one with this many draws on his record will ever get his due. Judges need to stand before the media after a fight and get peppered with questions to be held accountable for their cards.
